New bird in the house!!

Post by 77custom » Sun Jul 22, 2007 1:43 pm

Thought I'd like to have one of these. Never had one before. Neck and middle combo sounds really good. Not too crazy about the bridge tone, too bright. I might exchange it for a Seymourized mini hum. Plays great, I had to replaced the bridge on it. Seems Gibson is putting generic bridges on the new guitars ei. pre-cut saddles, no "Made in Germany" stamp.

Is that a Floyd Rose on the goldtop?

Mike

Yes it is. This is the guitar that I saw sitting in the window of a run down computer repair shop. It's a '78 custom. It had all the finish stripped from the top, an added floyd rose and a slightly cracked neck. I bought it for $165 and had another $165 in paint and repairs. I always wanted a Les Paul with a trem on it. I had one with a Kahler but, that really sucked alot of tone. This one doesn't affect the tone as much. I can go from a hardtail to the floyd without a big change in tone.

When I play on weekends, I see 20 year olds who probably play rap in their
cars, but their girlfriends dance to Mustang Sally.

Thanks. It's funny when people ask why i have so many. They just don't get it. I tell em, ever since I got married I had to stop collecting girlfriends, so I had to start collecting something else!!!

Maybe this weekend I'll get em all together for a family shot (guitars not girls). I have a studio light in the shop that will not be present.
