Damn, that was great ! I think they both were reaching that great level of interplay that Bruce loved, but Clapton hated. Man, Gallagher didnt miss his timeing or a change-up one bit. That is where it becomes fun as an improvising musician and you knew they were having fun by the looks on thier faces.

I started listening to rory about a year and a half ago and I instantly got hooked. I had to buy vinyls though, because I wasn't paying $30 per cd.

Already got it Chief....

I searched his discography after hearing Bullfrog Blues on Youtube last year, went down to the used record store near my house, and listened all afternoon till I found the ones I liked best.

I got: Deuce, Live in Europe and Tattoo.
Still looking for in good condition: Irish Tour, Top Priority, and Calling Card

I can get the Lp's for 6-10 dollars each, and they sound so much more 3d than cds.

I've got some really good Bootlegs of Rory's somewhere on my comp, I will do some digging. Rest in peace Rory.

Irish Tour is a must and I'm very partial to Calling Card.

Yeah, I have started looking for a duplicate for Live in Europe because I listen to it at least once a week. I can't remember where I stashed my downloaded bootlegs...I had Atlanta Electric Ballroom, some live Taste, and a couple other weird ones.

I agree completely, absolutely one of a kind.

Picked up Top Priority and Calling Card yesterday, 13 beans for the 2! Still no sign of Irish Tour though, the only one the had was $1 which is a good indicator of the condition that its in since it was marked down from the original $14 price.

Man, I got a couple of cassettes of Rory that a friend (who I lost contact with

) gave me. Some is live and some is studio, I wish I knew what they came off of. The live "Messin with the kid" is awesome, big time rangemaster boostin on that one, It must have been the first song, cause someone say's "Rory Galligher", then there's clapping and then they start. In the middle Rory really gets into those pinched harmonics almost galloping like as the rest of the band is playing real low. After the song is over Rory say's "Thank ya very much......a very warm welcome......thank you very much indeed". What album is this from ? The first line of the next song is "What do ya think of that, I'm sleepin' down at the laudromat". This is great stuff ! The studio stuff is also great, One line in a song is "All you Pretty girls with your pretty faces".

What amp was he usin ? My modem is messed up right now so I had to connect to the phone line, it's so slow I cant get anything to download

. Sounds like a Vox AC-30, but didnt yousay he had an old 4/10 tweed Bassman ? Those damn rangemasters sound great !

There is also a thread here where yngwie308 posted info on Rory's gear. I saw him on a concert show years ago where his Fender Bassman head (I think) actually burst into flames!

Amplifiers and Effects
Gallagher used various makes and models of amplifiers during his career. In general, however, he preferred smaller 'combo' amplifiers to the larger, more powerful 'stacks' that are popular with rock and hard rock guitarists. To make up for the relative lack of power on stage, he would often link several different combo amps together.

When Gallagher was with Taste, he used a single Vox AC30 with a Dallas Rangemaster treble booster plugged into the 'normal' input. Examples of this sound can be heard on the Taste albums, as well as the album Live in Europe. Brian May, of the band Queen, has admitted in interviews that as a young man, he was inspired to use a similar amplifier and treble booster setup after meeting Gallagher and asking him how he got his sound. Gallagher has also been known to have used Ibanez Tube Screamers and various Boss effects.

In the early to mid 1970s, Gallagher began to use Fender amplifiers, most notably a Bassman and a Twin, both of a 50s vintage. An example of this sound can be heard on the Irish Tour '74 album. He also had a Fender Concert amplifier.

In the mid to late 1970s, when Gallagher was moving towards a hard rock sound, he experimented with Ampeg VT40 and VT22 amps. He also began using Marshall combos. During this period and beyond, Gallagher used different combinations of amps on stage to achieve more power and to blend the tonal characteristics of different amps.
