Joining the Darkside.

Post by Necrovore » Thu Aug 09, 2007 12:44 am

Yes Gents, I have officially jumped ship and joined the darkside. Last Friday I traded my JCM800 Super Lead modded to 2203 specs for a Mesa Boogie, 3 Channel Dual Rectifier.

I loved my Marshall, but the band I am playing with right now, it didn't cut it. That and messing with a 20 year old pcb which was ruined on last tube change(bias resistor pads lifted so I had to mod the connections to the resistor) did it for me. That and having the amp shit the bed on 2 new sets of JJ KT88's I deemed the amp unroadworthy. the trade was made and I am more than happy with this amp.

To those who say that DR's are mud boxes. Go try a 3 channel version of the DR. I will agree with you on the older 2 channel versions. This amp is very very well rounded tonally, almost too much as I am still playing find the sweet spot.

Never fear though I am still slogging along with my modded 2203 build and hope to finish that off by years end. I am still going to hang out here with you guys as you all are my brothers in arms. I have learned so much from you guys that you are all going to have to get rid of me by banning my IP.

You have to use what works for whatever music endeavor you are involved in at the moment. Right now I play modern black/death metal and a Marshall 2203 is not that tone.

Flame on cause I know its coming......

Hmmm, yes, help you, I can....joined in 2004 you did, and now, 2004 posts later, turning to the darkside you are? The force is strong with this one, but he needs to know that DR IS NOT the father! Marshall IS the father of DR!!!
Return eventually to us, you will...after you have faced all your fears.

Oh Young Padawan, be advised that the Fender is the Father of both. The Marshall only applied himself the name "Father of Loud" for amplifiers he made 20+ years ago. No longer is it thus. The children of he that carry the 900 mark do not have the beasts blood through them as they bear not the mark of loud, but peep. Thus is the many others that followed.

The DR is not the father of loud but yet louder than recent Marshall offspring, while having grindier mojo. Thus establishes DR as a possible lost cousin to the family. The one who touches Amadala under the table while it smiles at Annakin

Arggghhhh!!!!
You're not supposed to bring up Leo! Major breach of etiquette - MAJOR BREACH OF ETIQUETTE!!!! Plus you ruined my whole Yoda thing!!!!
Mmmm, yes, good is an amp named "Fender Bassman", but many are others based not on it's sound, but of the sound of the one called Marshall.
Based on the Bassman sound, the DR is not.

Ha ha! Just kidding ya man! Have fun with whatever you do, but know this....you'll be back.

I probably would have popped a Metro board in the JCM instead of selling it. But I hear ya....It is just easier getting rectumfrier.

You could have modded for a darker sound with a few simple cap changes.
