Most of my PC hardware and software is relatively old and I don't currently have a way to encode .wav files to .mp3.

Are there any good FREE MP3 encoders you would recommend? A stand-alone app would be best (not a plug-in).
Most of my PC hardware and software is relatively old and I don't currently have a way to encode .wav files to .mp3.
