Yup, Clapton has a really distinct style. EVH says Clapton was his biggest influence, but he also says that he doesn't play anything like him. I don't agree...you can really hear Clapton's influence on Ed in this clip:

Fuck it.

Yeah it does!!!
But it still has that "little extra something"...that thing that immediately makes you go "Oh, that's Edward Van Halen I can tell".

(I love it when he sorta tunes his B string and then taps on the pickup in the beginning!!! Almost pissed my pants the first time I saw it!!!)
Fuck it.

Why are you guys bashing on Ed, and Eric?? Because they cant hang with the newer, more modern, "schooled" guitar players?? ITS SO JUVENILE!!! Dont post someone that wasnt made for shredding, in a negative light, just to berate him for your own immature amusement!!! I cant believe you both have stooped to this level. Lets see you find something negative to say about THIS. THIS is a master at work. I really thought I knew you guys better. Im very disappointed, and Im seriously thinking of deleting you both from my "favorites" list. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsXS5fCq4LU

Im sorry, you're right Fill...I apologize, and please don't delete us from your favs list...I think we just got caught up in the moment.
As we can see here, Mr. Vai has a style that is very "Zen". Maybe obscure to some listeners, because it at first seems like "nothing" but then if we look deeper, the "nothing" adds up to a simplicity and honesty that is "something" in an "anti-matter" sort-of way, that nonetheless caresses the ear of the listener in an "anti" way, which leaves us with the 'somethingness" subtracted by the "nothingness" of the inverse proportion, relative to the intention of the artist, conversely, as imposed upon the listener.
Yup...'er....sumpthin' like that...
I heard Steve Vai eats his own boogers...
Fuck it.

Im sorry too, Ear. Though I CANNOT comment on "the 'somethingness" subtracted by the "nothingness" of the inverse proportion, relative to the intention of the artist, conversely, as imposed upon the listener", as you are ALL to well aware, I MUST revert to the microscopic immensity, which obscures the invisible, relative to the unrelated, which of course, as you know, is unknown to all but the most celebrated of the anonymous, yet well documented, heretofore unscripted volumes that have become silenced by the intensity of the equanimity which quiet the backround noise in the foreground, dictating the dominance of the psychoenergetic reversed submissive hypothesis, negating any similarities regarding the differences which are unrelated to the cinematic euphoria brought on by an unusually deceptive psychosis, bringing on a relapse into malingering grandiosity, which will inevitably manifest itself in histrionic dementia, with no prognosis for rationalization through stereotyping an individuals visual symmetry, and their obsession with malingering nocturnal enuresis, while the complete dissociation of associated symptoms intermittently interjected by an unusual obsession directed squarely at psychodynamic reinforcement of schizoaffective disorder, (and as you may have suspected, the predictable preoccupation with hypochondriasis, and the complete disregard for the trauma of agranulocytosis) notably, and denoted by the relative absence of luteal phase dysphoric disorder, which galvanizes, and euphorically supports my fine hypnotic theory... 'er... SUMPTHIN' like that!! (we GOTTA party sometime!!) PS-Ed eats boogers too... I have that on good authority.   ( 8) )

Well...yeah...I was going to say that but I didn't want to show off. But now that you mentioned it, I think you meant to say "lutean phase dysphoric disorder" not "luteal phase dysphoric disorder"....I mean, not that it matters that much...
Mmmmm booogers!!! (In my best Homer voice ala Chief)

I just re-read this and I have to say this...it's a work of art. I have been "served" and rightfully sent back to the woodshed with my head down, my pee pee draggin', and clearly eclipsed by a master.
The horror...the horror...
Fuck it.
