Guitar buzz...

I am stumped on this one... I installed an RS Kit for my friend's LP because he kept getting a REALLY LOUD buzz when he tried... I didn't like the soldering job and he used alot of flux (

)so it was next to impossible to clean them, so I ordered another kit and decided to start from scratch... I got it installed and tried it out through my wireless and it works great, no issues... Then I decided to try using a regular cable into the cab and the REALLY LOUD buzz is back! it is so loud that the guitar is hardly audible... Tried it again with the wireless and it is quiet as could possibly be?? I double checked all of my grounds and they all look fine?? Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this?

BTW, I know it is not the cable as my other guitars work fine... I did try several different cables anways.... Thanks again for any feedback....

Check you wired the jack around the right way. Will still work either way, but if the hot signal goes to the shield of the cable, rather than the tip, it will buzz.

I've spent the last few hours combing the LP Forum and came up empty handed... Here is a pic of the wiring... This is different than my LP in the fact that I did not have to ground to the shielding on the input jack wire. My LP works fine with the RS Kit as well as my Strat and Tele, I can't figure this one out?

Worth noting, I took the input jack out and when I hold it, the buzz goes away... I tried everything I can think of... any help is greatly appreciated...

NOTE: I need to register with putfile, I have taken away all other photos (except for the LP forum/ Metro Jam Flyer) and will take all of these away tomorrow when I register...

Swap the ground and hot on the tone pots, they are back to front.

Did you check the jack is wired correctly?

Hey, GP. A little hard to tell from the pic, but by your description, it sounds like you've answered your own question. If you hold the jack, and the buzz stops, the problem is with the ground scheme somewhere. Im assuming that the shielded ground wire coming from the jack is grounded to some common ground point in the control cavity, and if it is, you should have continuity between ALL points of ground on the guitar. I think you need to get in there with a continuity checker (your DVM should have this function), and check for continuity between all grounded points, including plugging a guitar cord into the jack, and checking for ground continuity between the sleeve on the exposed plug, and all grounded points on the guitar. (that would even include the stop tail, and therefore the strings and tuning machine bodies, assuming you have a ground wire going to the stop tail). 99.9% of buzz problems on a humbucker equipped guitar can be traced to a grounding issue somewhere. Thanks for chiming in guys... I tried switching the black and green around, but when I do that, I get no sound out of the guitar, just buzz... The way i have it now, I can at least hear the strings through the amp??? I noticed that the other LP I did has a BARE wire in the cluster coming from the selector switch that is grounded with the black wire (from the same cluster) to the ground plate... The ONLY things i changed out are the tone pots, I did not touch the selector switch or the input jack... This is really frustrating because I only removed (6) wires and put them back where they came from with different pots! Thanks again for your help and feel free to chime in if you think of anything else!
