Found this interesting thread on mylespaulforum about the bumble bee resistors, they call them caps, used in the Historics:

Thank you for posting yet another reason not to buy a new Gibson. Next thing you know we will find out that all those fancy R9's that they are selling are not true mahogany, but chesswood.

This is why I will never ever ever own a Gibson, old or new. If I wan't a good 50s PAF Gibson tone I buy old 70s Japanese Gibson clones and mod them to taste. I'd buy a Tokai LP before I would a Gibson. You couldn't give me a Gibson. Never Never Never. I'll rot in Hell first.

Its really unbelievable the shit that company pulls. Unfortunately, they are SO big, that people compaining on the internet or even in Emails to them (I've done that) makes no difference whatsoever. The only people that care about stuff like this are the people that found out they were just duped, or people that appreciate some FUCKING HONESTY for their hard earned money. Certainly Gibson doesnt care. Its all money to them. If they could get away with making their guitars out of recycled particle board, they would. Bunch of pricks.

I gotta say that I HAVE bought new Gibsons in the last few years, but I ABSOLUTELY wont buy one unless the store carrying them lets me check the truss rod. I have seen more than one new Gibson with the truss rod totally loose, and the guitar required at least 11's to play correctly, cause the neck is so backbowed. Like Mac said, "For a 5000 + $ product that

It seems that history is repeating its self.. Didnt fender and gibson do the same thing some years ago? It Dam near put them under then and I can see it happening again. I would love to own a gibson but I cant bring myself to being screwed out of my money like that..I talk to a guy about a year ago that had his own shop and he was going to carry gibson line but they wanted him to buy like 25,000 dolars worth and he had to carry what they told him to. He also said that they only had $600 dolars US in the supreme from start to finish..
I had a american delux strat but sold it because it was falling apart sitting in the case.. No thanks.. I will save my money for somthing else..

Not to be off topic  but I had similar feelings towards Marshall with their HW debacle. It is like pissing in the wind, to say anything against them, unfortunately my lesson learned, albiet at great expense, showed me to stick with my original opinion and had I had an option at the time to play and inspect one, there would have been no sale, but then no Metro either, so be it!!
Gibson are as big a bunch of liars as anyother large corparation and as long as people pay the ridiculous money for their half-assed attempt at vintage recreation, they will march on.
