WB Pickups

Anybody here tried these, they seem pretty heavily invested in the My Les Paul Forum, they have a Peter Green set out now.
I wish I had spent moore time with Wagner's WCR Moore Green set

This guy apparently has info from the guy who rewound the original PG neck pickup, using two types of wire.
Everyone has their take on all this stuff, to me if the technique (not for sale) is right you can get the out of phase PG sound.

WB has promised me pickups to try out since January. Three times. He always says "I'll get those out to you next week. I've been slammed!"

I did get a T-shirt.

Seriously getting an out of phase set of pickups that suposidly matches greens pickups is a waste of money IMO.

All it take its a good set of PAF clones wired to 50's spec and flipping one of the magnets, THAT IS ALL. There is no trick to it.

Shh! Didn't you know there's a special "recipe"? Aren't you aware that you need Formvar wire, and it has to be reverse wound on one coil, the magnet must be flipped to initiate a time space continuity rift, and that turning the pickup backwards are ALL an essential part of the tone?

Right! Damn, how could I forget that! And for good measure, exhale into the pickups while you're toking/smoking/gagging, too. It's also partly the way you age the covers.

This guy has caused quite a ruckus among "boutique" pickup makers due to some of his claims, beginning with the '67 NOS wire thing along with many YouTube videos and arguments regarding the specifics of the "Peter Green" tone. The latest on that comes from Bare Knuckles claiming the real mojo comes from the fact that PGs neck pickup was rebuilt and reverse wound with heavy build Formvar insulated wire.

WB is working the marketing angle to the max, and I have no problem with that if you can afford it and have the time/resources to do it. The '67 NOS wire buckers are $550 a pair which is way out there. Holmes' pickups are in that range and built with new materials, but there are guys building pickups as good or better at far less cost to the customer. As to whether those or any others are worth that kind of scratch, I've always felt if you can afford it and feel it was a good value after purchasing it then it's a good deal at least for you. I thought his video clip of the '67s in action displayed really good tone but not tone unattainable with current materials.

With all that said, the voodoo notions surrounding wire age/insulation type, bobbin materials, magnet length/age, how blessed your nickel covers are, did you bite your tongue just so while winding, ad infinitum, are getting more than a bit old. This stuff isn't rocket science.

Seriously, I think this hype is a little silly. One thing I have learned after the last year of getting my rig together (and almost 30 years playing) is that EVERYTHING in the signal chain makes a difference. Most of the time, all of the little cheap details and low fidelity solutions combined are what gets you there.

For my money, Gibson finally got it right with the Burstbuckers. I also have a REAL nice set of Fralin pickups in zebra that sound killer.

I'm sure these boutique pickups are nice but 500 bucks? C'mon man!!!

I just droped a dime on a High order pup jeff and I have been talking it over for about 2 weeks and I think we have found one for me Its some thing in the line of a voodoo 59 pup should be sweet.. I have read and talked to alot of guy's that are taking out gibson PUPs for Seymour Duncan Antiquity.. I may have to give one a shot just to see whats up but it will have to be after the hollidays.
