I don't have a bad thing to say about White Lion. They were great for their time. A reunion/new release would be excellent. I saw them open for Ozzy. They sounded great live...and Vito... The guitar community suffered a great loss when he stopped playing.

Where have you gone Vito Bratta?

Here is some VITO clips:

Listening to this brings back some serious memories of the Jersey/New York Club Scene in the mid/late 80s....

If you had said "Hey, you can play like a combo of Bratta and Lynch if you cut off your leg", I wouldnt even of had to think twice. In fact, GFTPM had that one cover with Lynch and Bratta on the cover and there it was. After hearing "Big Game", I had to get an ADA MP-1 pre-amp. That was who I wanted to play like. Course, I got the Lynch part DOWN (see my name - I copped Lynch so bad that I got stuck with that moniker as a sophomore in high school), but never got the Vito part down....anyway, enjoy:

Love the bridge out of the solo - the crunchiness:

And quite possibly the best guitar song of the early 90s(granted the 'costumes' are quite awful):

I also was turned on to the ADA MP-1 by Bratta. It was the issue of GFTPM that had 'Wait' in it. Lita Ford was also in that issue, must have been '88. Vito said how it could sound like a plexi or a Fender. I fnally got one. It was pretty darn good if ran through a tube power section along with a good (25 watters) 4/12. To be honest, it sounded just like 'Extremes' 'Pornographiti' album, which is what Nunu used I think. My 800 Marshall was more 'authentic' in tone to me, so I sold the ADA. I've had a few 800's (2204,2205's) and a jubilee that all were better for me than the ADA set up. My all time fav. amp that I've had was a '73 Super Lead. Wish I still had it. Traded it for a 900 series Marshall when they came out. Damn that was the worst equipment wise mistake I've ever made.

So, has Vito stopped playing or something ?

I always preferred his tone on the first record, prior to the MP-1. Very round and woody, "clean gain". I remember reading that was a Marshall, but has anyone ever seen any details about that recording session?

My old rig used to be an ADA MP-1 > multiverb II > carvin 900w mosfet stereo pwr amp > white marshall anniversary 4 x 12". It was cool for the time...was doing more the art rock (Janes Addiction) kind of stuff. It never had the balls though like a straight up marshall (or other tube amp).

I 100 % agree with you on that Nitroliq, the ADA didnt have the straight up grunt and balls of a Marshall. The ADA had 'more' sound and presence from lo to hi, just not the balls and 'feel'.

Tonepilgram, I heard that vito used a 100 watt superlead that origionally belonged to Leslie West before he went the ADA route. I think it was a '69 or '70 model, but I'm not quite sure. Vito said he used a Tube Screamer to get more gain out of it.

He was also using the ESP Strats at the time on Pride, not the Steinberger, which he used all over the Big Game tour (and most likely the album as well) which also could have something to do with the tone. Coincidentally, Vito went back to ESP strats for the "Mane Attraction" album which had that fatter tone.

I couple of guys I knew where running 2 rigs - the ADA and a real amp (typically a Marshall or even Laney at the time) from an splitter box to give the best of both worlds. Than Soldanos got real big - remember the snakeskin ones?

Anyone, the Lynch-Bratta issue was this one:

I would just embedded the image, but I cant figure it out - can someone help me with how to post pics in this forum?

I dont remember that question per se, but I remember Vito saying that he got alot of his melody/arrangements from listening to Elton John, of all things. To me, Vito was Eddie for the next generation - the tapping stuff he did in "Wait" and "When Children.." was the next logical evolution - forget that 8 finger stuff - I find it hard to believe that Vito would say Ed didnt influence him - there wasnt a guitarist around in that niche of metal that wasnt - hell, even some of the thrashers were influenced by Ed.

This guy, btw, is about the best Vito-copper Ive seen - he can sure play the crap out of Bratta - if only I had played his stuff half as good, even before I injured my fret hand:
