buildyourownclone Phase 90

Post by gnugear » Fri Apr 15, 2005 7:50 pm

I just put one of these together and it kicks ass!

I plugged it in next to my MXR reissue with the R28 mod, and the BYOC was smoother, creamier, and less ratty sounding. The MXR would also swoosh lower on the bass notes making the low end sound bloated. I dig this pedal and can see what the attraction is with the script models. I guess the clone also uses the same J-Fets as the original.

I'm glad to hear this, because I have been considering getting one. Now thanks to your glowing review, I think I will. Was it pretty easy to put together? I haven't tried his stuff before.

I couldn't believe it ... it worked on the FIRST try! I'm on a roll because I just installed a metro board in my reissue and it worked without a hitch as well. That said, it took me forever to trouble shoot the TS808 clone.

Overall I'd say that it was a pretty easy builld ... heck they all seem easy after building a Marshall!!

www.buildyourownclone.com

It's a little more than if you sourced everything out yourself ... but it's a heck of a lot more convenient.

I'd like to build this thing and mount it into a rack chassis, since I'd like to install every single mod they have for it, including the one with the switchable phase stages. That would be WAY cool!

Of course, I'd get the award for building the first analogue effects unit...

Nice signature Jon. Every bar with a PA in the world should read that.

I just got some extra pots so I'm going to try the mix mod and the sweep mod. I can't wait becuase I'd love for it to be even more subtle.

PA Owner - A member of the band who owns the PA and has absolutely no clue as to how to run the damn thing
:D I owned my own PA for years and still I think could dial in a better sound than some of the local sound guys in my area

Hey Dosmun, then THAT my friend makes you and actual sound engineer who happens to own a PA!

That definition was referring to people in bands who own the PA, but when you listen to their mix, it sounds like pure, 100% raw fresh dogshit.

I mean, there always has to be someone in the band who owns the PA(unless you're Jedi Mind Trip and you have Kieth from Hyperman Sound to come out and do sound for ya). But there are those that know the shit, and those who don't.

I also happen to own the PA in my band as well, and like you, I actually know how to run it.

I am not sure if I would call myself an engineer. I did learn alot over the years though. When I first started out I was one of those guys who had a PA and couldn't run it. I guess you have to learn somehow. But then again you have to want to learn.

Guitar players do always seem to know more about running PAs and even rigs of other musicians like Bass riggs then the other members. Ive never known a bass player to know his rig and whats goin on the way guitar players do.

Yeah, I'll try to get something up soon. I just switched over from a Mac to a PC and I have to relearn Protools. :(
