Did I damage the Tranny?

Post by Flynman » Mon Nov 19, 2007 8:56 pm

Ever have one of those days? I was moving a couple of my amps around in the practice room and hooking things back up.....When all of a sudden my wife appears out of nowhere (how do they do that?) and I got distracted. She started talking but all I heard was...whawewawhawhawewewaawaa or something like that. Anyway I did not hook up my plexi to the cab and turned it on (both power&standby) and left it like that for about 10 minutes before I realized the mistake. Do you think I damaged the tranny? Is there anyway to check it? I plugged the cab back in and played for a while. It sounded a little flubby to me but maybe I was being paranoid. What do you think?

I LOL'ed on that one...

Anyway, I agree with planetjimi. As long as you didn't play through it, it's probably ok. Was your guitar even plugged in?

It's nothing new to you, I'm sure, but I ALWAYS plug a speaker cable in first, even before the power cable, etc. It's a good habit to get into.

Hey Jimi long time no see. I did not have anything plugged into it. Played a little more and everything sounds good. I had just put new tubes in it so maybe that is the reason for the sound difference. Now if I can pull this off... and make my wife think SHE ruined the amp maybe I can get another one!!!

Thanks for the replies!!!

Yes, this is the natural difference between women's and men's languages

As for the OT, as long as you can't hear anything awful buzzing or sudden volume drops, you'll be fine!

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp
