Not to disagree, but I thought the Custom Shop '69 Strats have a U shaped neck, but they are not a real '69.
Is this true??

No my 22MAY69B neck is a medium thin C shaped neck with I'll
say 9 degree radius.

I don't know about the Custom Shop necks.

Partially on the topic- that Gibson V neck in that cool picture with the Black Flag Marshall, sure looks like a chunky U shape.

here is #1 ith 1975 pups. I've got 74 Staggard low output pups but haven't swapped em out yet. I'm playin thru a 55 tremolux now but when I ramp up to a larger amp I'll swap to the low output 74's.

this is a 22MAY69B neck

I'm waiting on a 66 Strat neck which is the first year of this type of construction. I believe this is a major source of that late 60's tone.
They don't make necks like this anymore, in the way they construct them.

Partscaster

Post by wide slide » Sun Dec 09, 2007 4:45 am

Since I travel I Like the fact I'm not leaving a real
expesive guitar behind at times and is way less worrysome. Yes This Pa rtscaster is worth the most to me, but its not a real 69 I'd have to worry about. Well I do send my good amps ahead of me though.

Partscaster is made of a new re-issue body, 86 reissue vintage 57 bridge and tremalo and a 1975 pickguard pots and 75pups. With a 55 tweed fender tremolux the amp get pushed with the 75's
These pups sound good also with a tweed pro but has a different articulation, with alot of accent on the picking attack.

I'll change to the 1974 staggared, real low output 5.4's later.

Hmmm . . . I was thinking that your neck should have the "With synchronized Tremolo" on the sticker. I know my old '70 had it, and two '69's I just played this past year.

here is the neckoff the body since I don't want to take the neck off.

The seller didn't need to hype it up but I was able to ask him questions before the sale. I'm wondering how different the 66 neck will be if any. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=003

while on the late 60's Strat neck's here is a bit of information about them when lookng at them and the finish.

Ok we know they started using poloy finish from 66 but the neck finish up to 69 also used Lacquer on the face of the headstock. ( many people don't know this! ) This was because the decals they were using, were reacting or weren't setting right with the new poly finish. So if you look close of an enlarged picture 6 of 9 of my ebay auction in the last post you can faintly see hair line cracks in the lacquer finish that is useually a problem with this type finish.

I plan on using the low 5.38 1974's in my #1 wht/69 and use the 5.9
75's with this 66 neck and find a nice adler body.

My aim is to use the low output to capture the tone off the neck, not use the pickup for the overall tone. These old 60's Strats are noted for a particular tone not originated by the pickups.
