Do You Ever Look At The Stupid Comments Below You Tube Video

Anybody notice the most inane drivel and mostly derogatory comments posted below the You Tube videos??
I mostly try and avoid them, but some times it just goes to show the mentality of the audience out there..In fact I like the vids where comments are disallowed it makes it a much more pleasant experience.
In an Andy Rooney voice, "Don't you just hate it when so idiot spoils your You Tube viewing with some racist, slanderous remark!"

I'm not sure what videos you're referring to, but to me, I look at some vids just to see the asinine comments!
Especially the religious ones, it just blows my mind at some of the things people will say and argue about.
I like "Pat Condell", he raises religious questions, and man do the people come out of the woodwork!

Yeah, take it for what it's worth, look at it for the entertainment value, and how completely blind and ignorant people can be!

You know, I guess it seems that way, but I think almost anybody thats deeply involved in an art form of some sort probably seems different, or "out there" to people that dont get it. For me, all the aspects of fretted stringed music, from the mechanics of amps and especially guitars, to learning "that" riff, or song has just become "me", and has taken me over to some degree. The importance of these things has overshadowed some aspects of my life that maybe it shouldnt have, but as psychologically complex as people have become, thats really no suprise.
Anyway, Ive gotta get busy skipping dinner cause that damned Marshall has a bad hum, and Ive GOTTA find it before I have to go to work tomorrow, even if it means I dont sleep tonight. / /

Its all 10-15 year olds (or 10-15 year olds trapped in older peoples bodies) trying to get attention, negative if they have to, by being over the top and if someone gets upset or offended I figure that shows flaws in their own character. They do make me laugh sometimes. Not the same type. Ive posted quotes from some funny things these guys will say either because its so dumb or because it is witty.

Dead on right, Dan. I have a video up there of me playing the KF memorial Trainwreck that several friend's built. This thing was being hosted by Bob Reinhardt in his room at the last Ampshow in Piscataway so obviously you don't want to step on any toes and take away time while he's trying to garner interest in his own line. I had a few minutes to play and get something on video so I did a quick few minutes of OCD wankage...not great, not horrible. You always get the people coming out of the woodwork that act like they're commenting but then slag you with something negative in a backhanded kind of way. "Nice amp...need a better player." "Wank wank wank...play a song next time." At least if you post your own, you can delete the comments you don't want. I left the second one in and commented but ended up deleting the first one. People miss the point of the whole thing. There weren't any clips of it at the time and folks wanted to hear a sample....*shrug*...the speakers weren't ideal for the wreck either...it is what it is.

Ummm, I thought that's why we practice and study and learn to hone our craft....to BE excellent!

To Dan's point I have also had people come up to me and say "Wow. I didn't know you could play like that!" And I would get all humble and say thank you. "Yeah, you smashed that guitar up just like Pete Townsend". Oh yeah, I'm a great "player", eh?

I was in a band years ago right after HS with a bunch of guys about 15 years older then me (one of them anyway) and the drummer had his buddy, who was 'learning', come and play gigs with us just for fun (for him). Well that was back before I had any showmanship at all- not that I ever developed much anyways, but anyway the one thing he always had WAS showmanship. Long story short he was 'the awesome guitar player' and I was like the rhythm player in the back. Thats when I said Jimi had the idea only he not only looked awesome he was awesome. I started trying qa little harder then tho I never had the big stage antics in me. This guy had to basically mimic come of the harder stuff we did liek Cult of Personality, Paradise City, Beautiful Girls and what used to piss me off is thats when he would get the most over the top and get the most attention. But hey searing solos entertain musicians not 'ordinary people'. The show entertains them. Nothing wrong with that I dont get celebrity dancing unless they throw each other around or fall or something thats when I get entertained.

I used to tease my buddy. He's a guitar player I'll never be. He always had a natural Clapton feel that I could never get BUT he was a STONE on stage. I used to tell him, "Buddy you'll always be a better guitar player then me but I will ALWAYS out rock on stage" Used to piss him off to no end.
