Another Boost Question

I'm using a cheap EQ Pedal for lead boosts. Do you guys recommend a tube screamer type pedal or something like the Time Machine Boost? I'm really not too woried about a volume increase. Isn't that basically what clean boosts do? Up the volume a bit? The EQ Pedal isn't so great on the tone of the amps i use. Just curious.

Are you running into a clean or already driven amp? If your amp is already distorting the only way you will be able to get a volume boost is running the boost in an FX loop. If you run it in front it will only drive the tubes harder making more distortion.

My current favorite clean boost is a Dragonfly SparkleBoost. Check it out over at www.diystompboxes.com
