man i spent new years in North Dakota. 4 degrees... minus 9 and shit. fuck that! who in their right mind would live in this weather?

+1 on THAT!!! It gets pretty cold in NY, but not that kind of cold. We havent gotten any real significant snow "yet", but it could be any day now. At least its only for like 3 months.
I hate the fact that people in Miami, or southern Cal (not you, Chief... I mean REAL southern Cal, like San Diego

) are still sittin' around in shorts on the beach drinking Corona's laughing at us getting the snow.
I hope y'all find an iceberg parked outside in the driveway today!!

When I first moved to Huntington Beach in Feb '94 I used to sit out on my patio in sweats playing my acoustic. My neighbors would walk by in ski parka's all bundled up and look at me and ask "How could you be out in only sweats??? It's soooo cold out." I would answer "No, it's cold back east. 68 here is NOT cold"

Amazing, isnt it?? If I head down to FLA now, it feels like a heat wave, even though its "only" around 70 degrees. I lived in Lakeside, CA for a while, which is about 50 miles north of the Mexican border. I actually got used to the Santa Anna season, where it got to 114 degrees in the sun.
You literally could cook an egg on a slate at that time.
Since you come from NY, you also know that what WE consider cold, others laugh at. Upstate, PA, or any of the northern areas dont think twice about a few feet of snow, and temps around 0 degrees. I can live without it, and God willing, in a few years, I WILL live without it!!

That reminds me of two guys from So Cal I went to college with in Boston. By late September and they had ski parka's, hats, gloves the whole bit. I laughed my ass off as I was in Jeans and a sweatshirt. They had never seen a winter of any kind. I remember them saying "Dude, it's freezing" and my reply was "If you think this is cold you guys are fucked once winter comes!"

People can move east to west or north to south and survive. The reverse doesn't typically work out to well....

My (native Californian) step daughter informed us that she wants to go to college in Utah. I'm STILL laughting my ass off!

Let her learn that lesson the hard way, Chief!! You're right on the money with that north to south/east to west assesment. My in-laws moved from NY to Fla a few years ago, and they're always bitchin' that no family has moved down there yet, that they're gonna move back here, blah, blah, blah... right up to the point that they come back for a visit. Then its "HOW DID WE EVER LIVE IN THIS SHIT??~~ILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN"!!!!
Till they're home for a month. Then the whole thing starts again. Some people never learn...
