NAMM 2008

Post by NY Chief » Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:50 pm

I've been helping set up the GMS Drum booth the last couple of nights. Of course I took a look around while I was at it. For you guys who have never been the winter NAMM show is held at the Anaheim Convention Center and fills up all 815,000 square feet, plus spills over to the local hotels. The paper said this morning that 85,000 people are expected and that the local economy expects to do $800 plus MILLION. This thing is BIG.

I saw a couple of white satcks going up in the Marshall sound room and a Randy Rhoads V in an open guiatr case. I hear there's a Rhoads tribute amp coming??

Stay tuned!

Here's a pic of what your garage looks like after breaking down the display....GMS West. George you said you wanted drums, you shoulda stayed an extra day! Now if I could only get George to store some amps here... :D

That pic is gone but if it was George and my wife, yes I am very lucky. That's my schweeeeetie!

We had a great time. Now if all that stuff was all mine....!!!

I warned my buddy that I was going to set up ALL of his drums in one huge set and play for the neighbors but he's already packed them up and delievering them to the local Sam Ash today. Oh well, another missed opportunity.

So for the first time since I can remember, they checked I.D's to match the badge. Made it in anyways but when I tried to go upstairs later, some dilegent Korean guy said "You name not Tom, its Jerry" I had fun anyways. I met Jim "Scumback speaker guy" and saw NY Cheif again. Whats up? Next year I ll have my own stinkin badges. I guess now we need stinkin badges. (with photo id)

And the black light scanners looking for counterfit badges as well. They seemed to be a little easier on Exhibtor badges but Jerry's right. NAMM's cracking down.

Good to see Jerry!

Thanks for everything Chief! You have a beautiful home and family.
Your music room is better stocked than my entire shop!

Definitely the highlight of the whole weekend. How many shots did we do? OUCH

Sounds like you had a great time.

I was just up the road a in San Francisco, at MacWorld, but the 400 mile drive to Anaheim to see you guys was just too much. I did connect with Oakland Danny from the PP forum. He took me for a drive across the Golden Gate bridge, and around the bay in this:

No too shabby....
