Thats awesome!! Brings back a lot of memories (and a lot of grins) from being a kid.
Too bad that kind of "innocence" really doesnt exist much anymore. NOW we have things for kids like "Mortal Combat". Seems wrong. :? :?

We used to make "motorbikes" too, Chief. A little piece of angle iron, a washing machine pulley, a long fan belt, and you were hooked up. We never used have any kind of cable operated throttle, just grab the little pivot plate on the carb, and let 'er rip!!. It was always fun to watch someone reaching down to grab the throttle, and inadvertantly grab the sparkplug wire.
   / :x :x :x /

And no clutch. Just pop that belt on the rim and go. we used a stick to throw it off when we wanted to stop.

Now why am I NOT surprsied you guys did that, too? We used to ride in the creek behind Pathmark in Franklin Square a lot.

Well, shortly after motorbikes came go-karts. I got in a bad accident on a mini-bike when I was a kid, and my parents wouldnt let me ride them or motorbikes anymore, so thats how the karts came to pass. I grew up close to Green Acres, and at that time the whole area was closed on Sundays. I used to race up in Alexanders every Sunday that it didnt rain, and even if it did rain, sometimes we would race on the lower level. Had me a Dart Grand Prix kart with a McCulloch MC-91B/1. That thing was fast as hell!! Man, those were the good old days. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Yeah, remember those days when stores were closed on Sunday????

All those lots were prime riding areas. Never got into carts, Ma wouldn't let me  (but I drove my friends lots of times anyway  )

Man, it was pulling teeth just to finally get the OK on first "real" mini bike, my 3 1/2 hp Stella, even if I did have it for a year before Ma knew. Thanks again, Johnny for letting me keep it your garage! Where there's a boy and a motorized vehicle... there's ALWAYS a way
