Post by MassTone » Sun Jan 27, 2008 12:54 pm

Guitar player looking to learn some Bass. Any recommendations for brand/model of my first Bass guitar?

Hendrix, Zep, Trower, VH style music. $300-400 range new or used.

Thanks,

Matt

Heck, I've got no complaints about my plain ol' Mexican-made Fender Standard Jazz Bass, it sounds nice and plays great. I think they still sell for around $400 new.
Besides, there's just something in my head that isn't right about playing a bass that doesn't say Fender. I'll consider making an exception for a Gibson EB series though.

Thanks guys. I'll likely check out the Fender line first as I have a entry level Ibanez that is worth full value on trade at my local dealer (they carry Fender).

Won't forget about the OLP's either. Remember seeing Sheehan back in 86 with DLR. Amazing player and showman.
