Oh they'll get theirs no doubt Fillmore, these are the guys who over the phone decided my Martin 00-28G was in players condition and not something they would be interested in.
They must be trying to compensate for something..

Amazing that they have the ability to not only assess your guitar over the phone, but Im sure if you HAD sold it to them, it would have "magically" transformed itself, without even having been re-strung, into a "one of a kind, rare, mint condition, museum-grade, under-the bed that grandma used to sleep in, concert quality investment piece, that ONLY the illustrious Burst Brothers could have possibly unearthed".

How DO those crafty little pricks do that??? :? :?

It sure does. Just like Roman his intentions were nothing to do with the subject but to put all the stupid little people in their place.
Leona Helmsley used to say the same kinda shit: "Taxes are for the little people".

I guess jail for tax evasion is for the BIG people.

As is the big angry gaptoothed husband named Bubba that comes with it.

Sorry to be so brutal about it, but that "Burst Brother" piece of shit should get shot in the neck while he's choking on his fucking dinner.
"Burst brothers"... fuckin' typical GC human garbage.
Those effing sleezeballs cost me TWO great deals at TWO different guitar shows. They need their asses kicked up one side of the street and down the other.

I still made out in the end thank god, but dayum I hate them.

Like 308 said, it was fun while it lasted. I'm just glad I have some real kick-ass old gear that sounds great.

You're not kidding. I knew Dave Belzer (one of the "Burst Brothers") pretty well when he owned a music store in Lynbrook, NY. .[/quote]

Where was that, fill?

On Sunrise Hwy in Lynbrook, just east of Atlantic Ave, before the overhead train tressel. It used to be called Music Mart, I believe. They moved the store onto Atlantic Ave, actually under the train tressel later on, but then pretty soon, went out of business. (Boo fuckin' hoo... ). A few years later, there's a GC ad, with Dave Belzer and Drew Berlin (Drew... dude, what the fuck is with that Gerry-Curl drippin' '70's head full of noodles mullet... dont you have any mirrors in your house that work???). They're smiling to kill the band, telling everyone that they're the biggest, best vintage experts on Gods green planet. Ummm, NOT.
He was a dork back then, and he's still a dork now, its just that people that dont really know him take him seriously now. I ran into him at a guitar show a couple of years ago, and though he absolutely does know me, he decided to act like "Slick Rick", giving me the "oh, did you used to come in my store?" bullshit.
Fucking asshole.
Said it before, and Ill say it again. Typical GC.

It used to be owned by a guy named Stan before Belzer, and some guy named Joe bought him out. Actually, this guy "Joe" did the "transaction", ripping that kid off for his dads '59, and Belzer took the guitar from him, cause he owned a larger portion of the store.
As much of a low-life scum as they were for ripping off that kid for his dads '59, if I was that guy Joe, Dave Belzer could have bet his own ass that he wouldnt have made it to see the sun rise the next day.

The original Burst Bros are Wittrocks.

It's foolish. The reason to buy vintage is because it's great, don't buy it if it sucks.

Also, try to buy vintage around 30 years ago, when it's cheap.

:D

Came in late on this thread, but here's my opinions:

1st, a vintage guitar most of the time, will sound and 'feel' a bit better, than new off the rack guitars. Not alway's though. Here's my theories, over time a guitar that has been played in a style (blues, rock, etc) will sorta adhere to those licks. Especially if its player/player's over the years were GOOD players. I believe in my heart that a lick played on a guitar, played at the millionth time, will sound better than when that lick was played the first.

I feel that is why alot of the vintage guitars that are in real good shape, most of the time dont sound anybetter than 'newer' reissue's. They were owned by a bad 'Wannabe' player, who couldnt instill any 'mojo' in it, or maybe it just simply wasnt played at all.

Here my 0.02c:

I agree that the pricing of vintage guitars is beyond any rational sense whatsoever.

As to whether regular playing makes a guitar a great guitar - about 1 or 2 years ago the German magazine Gitarre & Bass published an article about a studio owner who has lots of vintage gear which musicians can use to record with in that studio. He confirmed that the great guitars apparently have been played a lot. He also mentioned that he saw vintage guitars that were only average which were apparently played less. His conclusion was that the guitars that were played a lot were played a lot for the simple reason that they were good guitars to begin with. This explanation makes more sense to me than anything else. I would not expect anybody to play 40 years on a mediocre to substandard guitar hoping to have it come alive by some sort of luck or coincidence. I certainly would not want to wait 40 years to see that happen - who knows whether I have 40 years to go. I am quite content with a guitar that works well, I like the sound of and do not need to obtain a bank loan to purchase it. For gigging purposes the "works well" criterion is more important to me than "sounds incredible".
