EQ Question

Post by Dax-The-Ax » Mon May 09, 2005 8:17 pm

I just picked up this Washburn Dual 15 Band Para. EQ, The electrical plug is just a two pronger, it looks stock, should i put a 3 prong grounded plug on? Do you think i will have noise problems with this cord? How would i hook up the ground? The arrows show where the wires connect, one to the fuse and one to the Power switch.

I doubt it's necessary, but hey it can't hurt either. The ground can go to one of those transformer bolts.

If you are using it in-line with your amp then I would not ground the eq. You will get a ground loop. I have an old MXR 31 band graphic that I have to use one of those adapters to get rid of the ground stud. You will be grounding the eq through your amp once its all connected via patch cords.

what about the old MXR Flangers? They had a 3 prong power chord. how did that work?

I just ate my words regarding the grounded cord over on my 10 band thread in this same forum. Seems that the 10 band doesnt get the grounding problem that I get using the 3 pronger on the rack eq I own. I havent cracked open the case to teh 10 band yet as I don't own it yet but Im thinking that there might be some sort of buffer(?) in the circuit. If so it is probably there in the old flanger too.
