Im ready to freak out
What a day Im having. I got my USA custom body in the mail today. The first thing I do is overtighten the neck bolt and chip off a piece of paint in the corner of the body where the neck attaches. SOB! Then Im using needle nose to pull ont he springs. Slip... Huge gash scratch accross the back of the body. I put the guitar down for a while.
I come back to work on this brand new body. I pick it up by the neck and realize only too late I dont have the bolts tightened. Another huge floor tile textured gash on the bottom. Is this the most fucked up shit!

I dont mind a little character if it happens naturally. I cant even touch the damn thing!
It makes me think Im better off not getting a new guitar ESPECIALLy a fucking Gibson Historic. Those can stay completely character-less.
Ive NEVER been able to keep a strat in good condition. Maybe I just get myself in a mental state knwing Im about to pick up a gibson.

Man, I feel your pain.
I finished buffing out the nitro lacquer on my DIY, then managed to mar it while installing the string-through ferrules, along with a chip or two while trying to fit the neck. I wasn't expecting to have to learn lacquer repair quite so soon.

That sucks, Danny. At least the ones you get at the gig usually come with a good war story.
Funny what you say about Strats and Gibby's. I always felt that the Fenders should look well played, they're work horses. But the Gibby's should look like museum pieces.

Hate to say this, cause it sorta flies in the face of what I said before about finding the good in the bad, but for your sake, I hope it sounds good when yer done with it... it would really suck big time if you've been mauling up a guitar that sounds like shit when its done.Billy Batz wrote:At this point Im taking a different approach. Im just getting on the horse and figure the sooner I get this thing togetehr and start playing it and hearing how it sounds the quicker Ill forget about this dumb shit.
(Im just sayin'...)
