Well it does sound good. I got an uber-light Alder body. It has even more of that stringy quaky strat sound then my other body while at the same time a bigger fuzzier bottom as only strats can do. The last body I got I had the misguided thought that since my neck is the hugest neck you can get and its all maple Id need a warmer body to smooth things out. Wasnt feelin it.

I am trying out the Callaham H/SRV Fralins ASAP. Their supposed to be clean and clear as a bell but supposedly these in particular have more cohesion on the wound strings. A bit less rumble would be welcome.

I've had those days where no tool, hand/eye co-ordination or movement worked. Sucks pretty hard, actually. Sorry you had this happen to your new fiddle.

On a brighter note, one of these showed up...H75-4HP-LHDC 65 watt large dust cap

I'll get it tested and out the door on Monday, if this weird cold I've got lets me get away from the bathroom for longer than 30 minutes.

Trem springs:

I gave up on using pliers years ago.

Now I use a thin flat-blade scewdriver. I attach the spring to the bridge, slide the screwdriver through the spring hole, position the blade over the tang on the claw and push forward.

Spring slides down the screwdriver shaft and onto the tang. Real easy, safe and fast.
