metro's with pedals
do any of you guys run your plexi's on about 2-4 so it produces a beefy clean tone, and then use pedals to get your gain and lead tones?
if so, can i get some examples of how that sounds? with clips etc

I use a H&K tube factor with a SIB echodrive for my gigs but at home I just crank it.

I would suggest trying a Fulldrive (on compcut mode) for a double cleanboost. The first gives you a chunky rythm sound and the next is big and loud enough for leads. For heavier gain I use an OCD and for solos boost this pedal with the fulldrive.

I used to put mine on about 3 and use my Fulltone '69 to do a lot of blues stuff. You've definitely got more headroom with that pedal when you're at a setting like that.

I use a Tonebone VT pedal and keep my 50w clean and the 100w for gain... works great! PLUS I get to use two amps everytime I play which I use to jusitfy to my wife why I need so many amps!!!

I set my 100 wat 12xxx series vol I at about 4, and vol II between 2 and 3. for the dirt I run a 83 ProCo Rat with the distortion at 2:00, the filter turned off, and the volume set at10:00. For boosting leads, or playing metal-ish stuff, I kick on a self modded ibanez ts808 reissue. (the ts808 is actually run into the rat. works better for me). At the end of the chain, before my delay, I run an Aphex aural xciter w big bottom to add some lows and tighten things up a bit.
I control the amp volume with my rat. Kinda unorthodox, but it works out nice. I dont try to copy EVH, or anyone elses sound. I try to have my own.

I am going to try a set up like this! That's a amps lover's approach to a pedal - one that switches amps!gutpile wrote:I use a Tonebone VT pedal and keep my 50w clean and the 100w for gain... works great! Do you like the VT pedal?
