Great website Carl, shows how versatile the YJM Strat really is, my 2005 White/maple also in E flat has a strong Jimi vibe to it, the DiMarzios give an excellent Hendrix tone especially in mid position.
Very cool stuff.

yngwie308! I bought the Vintage White with Rosewood Malmsteen Strat! I spent 6 hours at the store trying out all the custom fenders to compare with the malmsteen strat that even cost 3 times as much: The Rory with 11's was the only one that came close to my taste. Cant believe how bright this guitar is with the rosewood finger board, how will it be with just maple

60's relic $6000
56's Relic $6500
Rory Gallagher x 3 $6999
Eric Claptom Custom Shop (didnt even asked)
Jeff Beck Cutomshop (didnt even asked)
65's Relic (think it was $5600)
Malmsteen Strat. $3700 got it for $2400.00

The guy was really honest and we couldnt believe how this malmsteen strat sustains and even acoustically. Even the HS-3 pickups which l have never tried were awesome and l dont understand how people think they are a bit tame.

After 15 minutes of playing on Scalloped Neck it was easy and l didnt have the problem of the High E string slip, l think its all about technique to be honest.

The Vintage White and Rosewood looks Stunning l must say and the
owner is getting one for himself after all of this. So next one will be the Sonic Blue with Maple board.

No regrets in buying this l highly recommend it and its a very versatile guitar from Metal, Blues & Jazz.

Took the shots with a Nikon D300!

Fantastico, awesome looking axe there Yngve!!!
Aren't those YJM's and the HS-3 pickups awesome, the rosewood and Vintage White combination is very early Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore looking! Also nice Photoshopping!!
Welcome to the brotherhood of YJM!
The YJM's really feel like a completely custom finished guitar, because for a production style guitar, they have so many unique appointments that they require a lot of hand finishing, lucky for us! :D 8)
Best of luck with her and very happy for you my friend.

Thanks Guys now l am in the YJM club. This thing sustains like no other and so bright. I really love that Scalloped neck and wondered why l didnt get it years ago. When l go back to play the normal guitar which l still love it feels weird like were is the strings and why is it so low almost to the fingerboard, no wonder the legends use this and jumbo frets. Aha!

Yeah my girlfriend and l stayed up till 3am shooting and then l photoshoped the image so you guys can enjoy. Now to practise...

Does your YJM Strat really ring loud acoustically Yngwie308 & JimiJames?

Thanks JimiJames for your comments as well.

P.S No wonder you cant have just one YJM, l have noticed alot of Blues guitarists discovering the potential with this guitar :D

Will let you know when l am up for the Sonic Blue, Girlriends loves that one.

Yep, both the RW & Mpl ring ! Reeeeal tight neck pockets. Unlike some sloppy work that I've seen that Fender did on the newer model.
I'm sure those are far & few inbetween...
guitarists discovering the potential with this guitar
That is a good assumption...take away the scallop it sounds like any killer Stratocaster.

Anyway the funny part is that I find them difficult to play with my technique but I just love the tone...

I frequently play these at my Cousin's house and Metro Member playloud.
playloud has an HS2 in the neck and sounds "airy'er" to me.
This is the pickup Yngwie used on the earlier CD's. More violinish tone as with the HS3's and the HS3 modded YJM that had a little more bite reflected in the later CD's.

I replace the HS2&3's with Virtual Vintage series. To my taste of course.
I was looking for a more vintage sound/less hot but noise cancelling as well.

(By-the way, earlier this year Fender introduced the Samarium Cobalt's in a 3 pickup set. their price has considerabley dropped now.
These pickups were only available in CS models. They have a reputation of a vintage '54 single coil but noiseles !
Not sure what Carl uses but I have a feeling if he would look into these he'd replace those stock pickups.)

The constructions look flawless and the neck pocket is tight obviously they have lifted their game. And of course the choice of woods has improved. Grain is good.

One question that has always been on my mind, l grew up with wood as my grandfather had a joinery and we did alot of furniture etc.

With the woods that Fender uses what grade are the maple necks and are they specially picked for the artist series or is it the same as the standards?

Were does it come from? Canada?

Wonder if one can order the Malmsteen strat with light flame maple neck :D

What technique do you have? To be honest l warm for 15 minutes and then its like WOW l am flying! I guess its the way you approach things, be positive, relax your hand and lightly touch the fingerboard, got all this this my classical guitar lessons when my teacher told me l was too tense on my left hand and needed to relax alot more, anyway the scalloped neck really teaches you to have finesse

Both my YJM's are stock. I wouldn't think of changing pu's. Both of mine are quiet, record real good. that's all I want.

My CS Jeff Beck has the HOT Noiseless pu's and I like those too.

8) No doubt about that !

Alrighty then, Don't blame me if you ever get the gumption to change them out and find that the Samaruium's were the ticket... :P

The reason why I mentioned you is because know you have these guitars.
I've had the Beck/Claptons/ Noiseless/ HS3's YJM's etc... They were all cool but took away from the guitar and added a color that I could do without.
I too have had these guitars and pickups as well as access to my Cuz'n & Friends YJM Signatures (which I play regularly) and play them through Marshall's & Fender's

Ofcourse, it's all about what's pleasing to one's ear.

I'm not telling anyone to change but if & when that someone does, the Samarium's are the closet to a vintage Stratocaster pickup
without the 60 cycle hum. and... they're made by Fender ... or should I say by Bill Lawrence for Fender. Read here

Since the YJM's come with DiMarzio's and for people who would like to stay with a DiMarzio flavor DiMarzio Virtual Series are nice.
I chose these in the past before I found the Sam's

Again, this option only for people who want to try a different pickup.
