i'm making this one for john evans. he's a big john wayne fan and his nickname is... well... you can see what his nickname is.

the image was sketched and then carved out of the alder carefully. i applied a little stain and then sanded to sharpen it up.

Cool...
Like A Vaughn/Duarte Hamiltone

Like the idea of a "wood" inlay oppesed to MOP. Musically sound me thinks.

Man John was thrilled! I watched like one of my kids was leaving on a first date. I waited through the entire first set to see him tune and he never touched the tuners. This was at Blanco's which from what I've heard is one of Houston's oldest bars. Very Honky Tonk and John has a Rockabilly edge to his music. He played the crap out of the Johnny Cat. I'm the short guy in the last pic. Actually I'm not the short guy; I'm the normal sized guy standing next to the freakishly tall guys! The guy on the left is my good friend Chuck that helps with the inlay work because it would keep me from getting anything else done.

Very cool work!
And a classy band. A girl with a garter to play the tambourine....
I like the concept !
