I use the YJM Dean Markley strings that Carl dosen't like, .008 through .048 and I like it fine.
I need to play only this guitar to get more proficient on it, but I do love the scalloping, hard enough for me to chord with a flat fingerboard...
nevermind a scalloped one!!
I would sell my 1955 Martin in a heartbeat for a new Duck though, even though I will be probably $11K short
Carl Iknow this LP guy Dr.Vintage in Phoenix, he did my '52 Les Paul, he knows Reinhardt personally. Tell me about this V-100, is it a 100 watt plexi copy of sorts??

Dave, the gauges of those Yngwie strings were cool, but I lost count of how many bullet ends popped off!!
I wish they did a BLACK Yngwie, like the black Strat he used in Alcatraz.
Bob Reinhardt is a great guy. The V-100 is a 100 watt version of his V-50. I saw a demo vid of the V-50 a few years back, that I thought had THE tone and he made me a 100 watt version of it.

The Vintage 100 is a 100 watt version of the Vintage 50. Big, bold and powerful, this amp will fill the largest rooms with tone. Built with a nice, deep, full tone, no icepicky harshness here. Our goal with the V100 was to try to recreate the old late 60's tones, while retaining the 70's grind, without the harshness associated with the 70's amps. According to the customers, we have accomplished that goal. I also have incorporated a vintage/modern switch into the amp. In the vintage mode, its thicker, and rounder, and in the modern mode, it gets clearer, with more attack. Gives you a nice variation in flavors.
This amp is a 4 input, non master volume setup, which is LOUD. It is the perfect platform for those who play the biggest stage, or those who like to get a good, loud punchy cleanish tone, and use pedals to shape your tone.
. The Vintage 100 has a killer, sweet full clean tone, and starts to get gritty around 4 on the volume. From 4 on up, it gets thicker and smoother crunch tones. As with all of our amps, it responds very well to the guitars volume control, and to your pick attack. When wound up, gets a nice gritty clean, or clean with a little hair on it, by rolling the volume back on the guitar. Go from there, to singing leads with just a turn of the guitars volume.
Power section is 4el34's, but you can also use 4 kt66's for the sweet tone that they give up as well. and the preamp uses 3 12ax7's. Solid state rectification keeps this amp tight, even when wound up.
Built with the same attention to detail, and high quality of all of our amps. Custom wound Heyboer OT, hand assembled and wired with Mil Spec PEC pots, ARS filter caps, "Dijon" and mallory and sozo coupling caps, NOS carbon comp resistors in all critical locations. Chassis are welded for extra support and durability, and switches are all heavy duty units for long troublefree service. I am constantly testing preamp tubes for the best possible combination of tubes.
I have also been testing the use of KT66's in this amp, and its amazing. All amps are now set up with the ability to adjust for KT66's, to give you that early Page,Clapton, etc type tone.
Standard on all amps is
Heyboer output transformer
Heyboer choke
Heyboer power transformer
PEC mil spec pots
Winged C or Mullard RI matched el34 power tubes.
A mix of Mullard, JJ, EI, or Tungsol preamp tubes.
NOS carbon comp resistors on plates and cathodes
"Dijon" , Sozo, and mallory coupling caps
ARS and Sprague high quality filter caps
Handwired with silver core teflon jacketed wire.
External bias jacks, with top mounted 10 turn bias pot for easy,
precise biasing.
