Re: YNGWIE MALMSTEEN
(re-posted from the other YJM thread)
Been going to a few concerts these past 2 weeks.
Seen Uli Roth last Sunday as he did choice killer Scorps tunes.
On Saturday Kamelot with an excellent performance.
Yesterday, Sunday, YJM was in town and was a great show.
Several weeks ago I borrowed one of my Cousin's YJM's for a week.(Candy Apple Red/Rosewood)
His OlyWht/Mpl sounds very Stratty but, the Red/RW felt do-able in my hands since the scallop is cut not as deep.
I decided to try a progression using Line6 GuitarPort with a Riffworks drum track with an octaver for the bass played on the guitar.
I tried to get the feel for the style by keeping it simple. A little tired after work but, you get the idea...
I hope yooz Yngwie guys hold back on the tomatoes
eh, and no beer was used while recording

Re: YNGWIE MALMSTEEN
That's ok, everyone is welcome to post...
I notice Yngwie's guitar wasn't scalloped, then he smashed it..This line up was classic.
Good shots of the effects pedals in the closing credits.

Re: YNGWIE MALMSTEEN
That's right, it soon became apparent the fate of the guitar, conventional cord, no wireless (though he has destroyed guitars with a wireless pack on the strap at times
! Also the middle pickup is missing altogether and it looked cheap with conventional frets, ect.
I didn't remember seeing this particular clip all the way through before, I have seen still shots and posted them here of the effects pictured in the closing credits.
This song being one that Yngwie played in Alcatrazz earlier. The Live '85 tone is favored by many an Yngwie fan, as being an example of a cleaner, less distorted lead tone. Although I haven't received my copy yet as the once reliable CDJapan has pushed back the release date of Perpetual Flame until in December, the third time the release date has been changed. I know I can buy it now at Best Buy, Wallmart, ect. now!
Since the inception of the new Rising Force records by Yngwie, he is more control of releases, distribution, ect. His previous deals being based overseas, Pony Canyon (Japan), ect. The Japanese release originally purported to have bonus tracks not available in the other countries releases and a bonus DVD of the making of PF, with commentary by YJM, ect. There is some doubt that any of that will appear, ect. The deals Yngwie has had with Young Guitar, for example have been ongoing for many years, they featuring exclusive clips by him. If anyone has the last Young Guitar DVD featuring YJM, the clip I recently posted, saying it was from the new disc, would you mind burning me a copy. Yngve, I have your material ready to ship.
I am hoping to soon get these 30 foot long speaker cables so I can crank the old Marshall Handwired cabs out in my third car garage, which I had to have with my 3 year old new build, for sports car, jamming, ect. Having my two small dogs, whom I do not wish to deafen and frighten with the Marshall sonic bombardment.
Then I can really test the YJM308 pedal I have with my 1959HW as I have intended to for some time, volume only being on less than II recently.
I have these extreme RF/AM radio interference issues with any amp in parts of my house and majorly in the garage. I almost need a Faraday Cage to have noise free operation of valve equipment out there. I need to look into some sort of screening on the walls, ect. Grounds are ok, ect.
I will review the new album when I get a copy, I have found that the unofficial forum recently has been majorly fanboy type based, myself, believe it or not, having mostly left that avenue of support. In fact I am somewhat disenheartened with most things Yngwie related at the moment. The ceaseless You Tube patrolling by his management cronies, they blindly search anything Yngwie related, but strangely anyone remotely connected to the new 'unofficial forum', is deleted and often accounts deleted as well.
Clips that people post, are for the most part deleted immediately for being in violation of the artists rights. Recently some amateur footage by one of the Johannsen brothers, Jans, I think, of backstage stuff from the Live '85 era, was taken down on YT almost immediately. Someone saved it and put it on Megaupload to share.
Seriously this sniping rivals the Van Halen internet police on this matter, never thought I'd here myself saying that..
!!
I am trying not to whine too much, it's just there are too many wrong cooks in Yngwie's kitchen at the moment and frankly they are spoiling his steady success at the moment, though to be frank it primarily You Tube related and they are somewhat screwing it up from that perspective.
Th old fan forum supported by the fan club, was taken down unceremoniously this past early summer and everyone's stuff deleted and dumped for good. I must say I primarily used the old forum for information sharing, finding rare interviews and stuff to pass on here to Metro Amp forum, the 'unofficial Yngwie forum' , a forum consisting of one mostly, hey, that's a dictatorship...
So it goes, I am keeping the dedicated fan flame alive and hope to continue in the spirit of support, as I have since late 2005. As I said though, recently it has been hard to swallow what has been happening. Frankly there were some posts by people who were angry on the old forum and said some inflammatory things, like threatening Yngwie with a machine gun in Florida, ect.
I have me friends on the new forum, the two Johns, primarily, Deuterium and Outlier and invaluable as Yngwie fans they have been.
Let me say this upfront, I do not really care for Tim 'Ripper' Owens on vox, so I am somewhat prejudiced in how I listen to the new band. Yngwie's playing is just as sharp as ever, he has replaced the Bradshaw rig, quite a long time ago actually, with first some simple midi type switching of floor effects and some small rack mounted effects, to his present Ground Control switching system. This was recently documented in Guitar World and scanned for display here. I am grateful for all the support, PM's, emails, ect. from all you YJM/neoclassical fans out there. Let me say at the recent Philadelphia Guitar show (Go Phillies!!!) I wore my Rising Force t-shirt and was amazed at all the comments from people. They told me Yngwie ruled and when they had seen him last, ect. That was way cool and proves that his fanbase isn't just new guys from Guitar Hero, ect. To be fair to Yngwie, he picked Ripper to match the new material, which he does an effective job on and he is grateful to Yngwie for the chance to front , if I can use that word, because only one guy fronts an Yngwie show..
.
So that's it, the current state of affairs, I have been undergoing tests recently for this numbness/paresthesia in my thumb and first three fingers of my right hand. Those who know me are aware of the daily battle I face with my severe arthritis, particularly in my hands, so this recent development has been almost the last straw, so to speak. I know it doesn't appear to have slowed down my typing
But even this is difficult with numb fingers, misspelling and wrong keys, ect.
I had an EMG test, no not the pickups, and that was negative and I am aware my medial nerve is involved, but a recent MRI of my cervical spine, revealed no major impingement of this critical nerve from that area. The thoracic outlet is another source of possible involvement, but that is like diving into a spaghetti infested mess to sort out. I am carrying on the best I can, working two jobs at the moment and had hoped after all the hand therapy I have endured that things were improving.
That's why I chose to write primarily about music than to actively play it for some time, this is ultimately frustrating, as I want to play, that is my first love.
I know we all have our daily burdens physically and many here have shared with me about their plights and have had encouraging words for me as well, which I greatly appreciate. The neurologist first told me it seemed like a small stroke, which I knew was not the case, but worrying nonetheless. Everybody from George on down is dealing with some demon that threatens to rob us of what we love doing.
I constantly help others, that is my job, which I have dedicated my life to, it is my true calling and when one needs some help yourself, it seems that I have to fight extraordinarily hard because of my job and what I already know!
I will close here, thanks to all the Metro fans and pray it will be a better new year for us all.

I will close here, thanks to all the Metro fans and pray it will be a better new year for us all.

Re: YNGWIE MALMSTEEN
