selling Fenders on ebay

Post by edwardz » Tue Jun 15, 2004 12:08 am

Not the kind that go on your car either...

I've never sold any amps on ebay, only effects, and I'm wondering how I should handle the shipping. My amps are combos, and the largest is a Super Reverb Reissue. I'm pretty sure I can't just stick it in an envelope and send it to BFE.

Also, should I try to sell the road case separate, or should I sell it along with the amp?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Spanks!

Better pack the hell out of it.........used to work for Fedex as a pilot doing night fret runs and saw not very reassuring things going with the cargo...

Some asshole ramp guy would just kick the s... out of some boxes, trow them around whatever. I don't mean it's like that all the time but rather be safe than sorry, if your not planning to ship golf balls, just pretent your shipping your own balls  .....than U should be OK..................

Yikes!! That last post freaks me out. OTOH I have repaired a lot of gear that has been damaged in shipment. You'd think I have a deal worked out with UPS. I can assure you I don't!

edwardz, pack stuff as well as possible and buy insurance. I hope you never have to file a claim; they don't exactly make it easy to collect.

For anyone shipping amps, check your local music store for boxes, they usually don't have room to store them. If you need a full size Marshall shipping box, let me know. I have a stack of them. Just ask Jon, I try to give him one every time he's here.

That's pretty much what I thought.. I think I'm going to try to sell local first. Problem is, this is a bad market for music gear. Oh well.. Any other thoughts on good ways to sell amps?

eBay fucking rules! You will get the most money for your used gear on eBay FO SHO! Guitar Center offered me $200 for my '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue.... which is total horse shit. I went on eBay and started my bid at $480, and seven days later it was all the way up to $560!!!!! It's great fun to watch how people dogfight for your items that last hour of a bid. HAVE FUN :D

I've done pretty well with the effects and miscellaneousother stuff I've sold on there. My man concern is with the shipping. I've got a Super and Deluxe reissues and a Blues Jr. That I'd like to turn into cash for a Metro plexi ASAP.. I'd hate to have any shipping problems though.

This Metro sounds like the cat's ass! I'm so glad I found out about this before getting my heart set on a schibie "reissue"..

OH YES IT IS DA CATZ ASS!!!

Last night I did some experimenting with Spinal Tap #2(my main amp, the first one I built that got the Jager Bomb spilled in it). I had someone playing through it that played Satriana and Vai shit to the T, however, he wanted the amp clean with a Boss Super Overdrive in front of it.

So I soundchecked him and that Super Overdrive by itself is weak as hell. So I was like "I got an idea!"

I put the amp back on the Power Brake, dimed out the Bright channel and set the Normal channel about 12:00, jumped the channels and then cranked the gain on that Super Overdrive, set the tone knob up about halfway and the level halfway as well.

HOLY SHIT!!! George, you've GOTTA try that! False harmonics galore and total 80's metal vibe!!!

Now if only I can reduce the noise and hiss factor...
