Confederate Flag Les Paul

Post by DivebombInc » Thu Dec 04, 2008 1:51 pm

Had a customer send me this Chinese knockoff of a Les Paul for a paint job. I'm scraping the edge now to expose the binding. I'll post some final pics once I'm done.

It would be pretty cool to fill the stoptail holes and make it a trapeze tailpiece, OR fill both sets of holes and make it a wraptail, like a Jeff Beck. My initial thought was no stoptail and strings thru the body with the tune-o-matic, but the string angle over the TOM would be pretty severe with that neck angle and an arched top.
If it was mine, and I was going as far as a refin, I would get rid of the old tune-o-matic/stoptail setup and go for something a little different.

BTW, what kind of finish does the customer want?

All I'm doing is the paint job. It's all up to the customer beyond that. I'm considering buying another one for myself.
He's going to do the basic LP Standard setup on it I think.

This is what I would do.

http://edsonmarquezani.files.wordpress. ... ebel31.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

BTW , reason ZW did this in the first place is because he found out Bret Micheals had the same flag Lp... and he wanted to "customize" his...
