DIY guitar kit

Post by Ricky Lee » Fri Jul 22, 2005 5:04 pm

Who sells the best Do-it-yourself guitar kits. I see alot of the cheapy stuff for around $200.00, but the parts are are not so good. I would really like to get a good body and neck, then add the quality hardware.
May the good Lord take a liking to you!

Buy the kits from Grizzly.com The owner builds his own guitars and makes sure that the quality of his kits is good quality for the price. If you want a higher quality instruments buy from Warmoth. They don't sell in kit form though.
If you are really good with your woodworking, this guy sells neck through blanks www.nealmoser.com If you went this route it would probably be the best neck through blank you can buy.

Im ot so much for the carvin kit. One of my friends built one of those. I built a warmoth Strat. Thats what all the kits are anyway, strats. But Warmoth stuff is fantastic, especially their necks. Theyll install any bridge ancors you need for you for $10 which is the only hard thing to do on the body. The only thing is the neck are usually not set up. What I mean is the frets need shaping (not much- Ive heard of people who dont even do it and like the necks) and the nut has to be cut. An honest guitar repair man would do that stuff no problem. An hours work for them. Theyll come out to be pretty expensive (around $600-$900) but their parts are the parts youd find on the best guitars money can buy (they have the cheapo stuff as well like whats in many of those kits) but their neck and body work is tight.
