Lefty Explorer

Post by demonufo » Sat Jan 24, 2009 6:57 pm

When I finally finish my 2204 build, I'm thinking very strongly about flogging all my other amps (4104, Cornford Harlequin, Epi Valve Jr with every mod under the sun) and trying to get hold of a real nice blonde lefty explorer.
Bearing in mind that I'm in the U.K., anybody got any ideas where I should be looking.

Please no Epiphone suggestions, had a right handed korina here for a while and was not impressed.

I guess just over £1000 - 1100 sterling is going to be my budget limit.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!

Talk to Divebomb (Kyle)... he made me a beautiful Korina explorer. I'm sure he could reverse it and build a lefty.

Cheers, why didn't I think of that!
I'll give him a holler and see what he can do. Probably shipping might blow it right out of the water though, since the exchange rate is no longer in our favour. Gotta be better than what I found elsewhere though. Only Gordon Smith over here and Gaskell guitars over in Australia do them, and the Gordon Smith looks all wrong, and I just don't like the headstock on the Gaskell. Or Dimarzio's as the only options! To me the whole thing just doesn't look right, but perhaps the explorer shape doesn't translate well to lefties.

I have a Gordon Smith from '93 that is excellent value for money, and they were really good cheap guitars in the 80's, but now they just seem to be of real poor standard (although they were always rough around the edges, they always played real sweet, once you changed out them crappy pickups).
