Re: Albert King V
Way cool bluze, in fact this is a 10 in coolness, glad to see someone other than Steven Segall has some of the old blues mens guitars.
I for one would be very interested in more pictures and the story behind Tom Homes building the guitar and Albert's ownership.
I thing Albert was the funkiest King, and I mean that in the nicest way..with his Stax years, ect.
His upside down stringing and unusual tunings made him a real original. The footage of him playing with Gary Moore and the stories of him in the studio scolding Gary for getting the lyrics wrong. Then Gary said some bullets fell out of Albert's pockets one time. He was a gun carrying sworn sheriff.
He brought so much more than the inspiration for "Let's Dance" and "Strange Brew"!

+1000, Yng. Without a doubt he was the funkiest King, and also had THE tone of all the Kings. The fact that he was lefty, played an upside down righty guitar strung righty, combined with his stage presence just adds to his legend and his coolness.yngwie308 wrote:Way cool bluze, in fact this is a 10 in coolness, glad to see someone other than Steven Segall has some of the old blues mens guitars.

To share a stage with him must've been an intimidating experience. Albert King, , Warren Haynes, Gary Moore, etc would really be something to stand toe to toe with in a lick trading contest!!

Re: Albert King V
Yes this guitar is really an honor for me and the guys at the shop to play, the case for this thing is hand made with Albert Kings name on a brass engraved plate, also there are a set of Flat wound strings in the case that were used by Albert at one of his last gigs and all documented! will post some shots guys, Steve

Re: Albert King V
This made me want to get out a little Albert to listen to on the way to work today.
Then the radio in my car croaked when I went to switch discs.
No music in the car is hell when there's no dual exhaust to listen to instead.

Yeah, being behind one of those (especially if you've got no baffle) on a nice, quiet, mellow, domesticated 'Busa will rattle my fairings loose.NY Chief wrote:Or a Big Twin out of a Thunder header!Flames1950 wrote: No music in the car is hell when there's no dual exhaust to listen to instead.

(I swear... thats the only reason I pass you guys... so you dont fracture my headlight lens with those big twin pulses!!)

Re: Albert King V
HA!!! Harley boyz think they know noize..........I can easily drown out Harleys with the hopped-up six in my '50 Chevy with original Fenton headers -- with the mufflers on it sounds like a prop airplane dive-bombing you when I tromp it. With no mufflers it's positively insane, the amount of noise that a little six can shovel out compared to a big V8!!!fillmore nyc wrote:Yeah, being behind one of those (especially if you've got no baffle) on a nice, quiet, mellow, domesticated 'Busa will rattle my fairings loose.NY Chief wrote:Or a Big Twin out of a Thunder header!Flames1950 wrote: No music in the car is hell when there's no dual exhaust to listen to instead.

I swapped the radio out and now I can listen to Albert again though, so we can get back to topic, and figure out how to pilfer that V from Steve's pal.

Re: Albert King V
I never really understood that, how a straight six "out-noises" a V-8. Must be either some massive piston size, or maybe firing order?? Maybe just the layout of 6 jugs in a line compared to 2 banks of 4 cylinders??Flames1950 wrote: With no mufflers it's positively insane, the amount of noise that a little six can shovel out compared to a big V8!!!
Really, the same thing is true of a big twin vs an inline four on a bike. That big twin can make some NOISE, man!!
