Well, currently being a sportbike rider, I can also vouch for how fine a string thong strapped azz looks when leaned forward on the passenger pad of a sporty.

I always thought how cool AK was for using the phase 90.
Talk about taking it to another level. 8)

Here is a picture of Albert I took at Antones in Austin Texas in the early 80's. I went to the club early about 8 and he was sitting at a table all by himself drinking some coffee and I went up and started talking to him. He ask me to sit down with him so I did. After a little while of talking I told him I had this album of his "live wire blues power" in my car and would he autograph it for me he said he would and proceded to tell me it was recorded at the Filmore west where he opened for Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. He autograhped it and we talke for a little while longer and he went back stage to get ready for the show. The show was great as usuall for him. About midnight I saw Steve Ray Vaughn come thru the club with his guitar. A little while latter Steve was up the jamming with Albert. Finally my girlfriend whined me into leaving at 4:00am and they were still playing. This would happen all the time there. Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Bobby Blue Bland and many others would all come there and jam all night :D :D

Oh, man... I gotta think its into 5 figures real easily. Albert Kings own ACTUAL guitar?? Its always about finding the right buyer, but Ill bet if a few notables (S. Seagal, Clapton, Gary Moore, Yngwie J... even Yngwie Dave  ) got wind of THAT ever being for sale??? BIG, BIG bucks, Im certain of it. Steven Seagal says that his other Albert King guitar is THE most significant guitar in his collection, and he has some really nice stuff.
If that were mine, and I had the need to sell it, I wouldnt take less than high 5 figures, possibly 6 figures. I dont know if it would actually bring that much, but I wouldnt start at less, thats for sure. Something THAT significant would have to go to Christies or Sotheby's... eBay wouldnt even be a consideration.

Hey thanks for keeping me in such distiguished company Fill!!! The actually instances I had to perhaps buy an actually owned and played by the artist guitar, would have been Gary Moore. In particular his Hamer Korina Destroyer, I could of tried to buy it back in 1993 for considerably less bucks than it is going for now. But that was a guitar rarely played by Gary.
I am happy having my Washburn SS80 that I ordered from the factory in 1993 and only recently learned it was built for Steve Stevens, but he never took delivery..so that's as close as I'm coming to an actual artists guitar at the moment.
It is very cool though to have and touch, feel, play a famous guitar... :D

awesome story tone freak. Thats one you'll keep with you forever. It reminds me of meeting some of the bandmates to the derek trucks band, my only "famous musician encounter" other than richie havens. But those times are so cool, thats AWESOME you got to meet albert and the situation sounded so relaxed. Not to mention stevie ray coming waltzing in to jam. Sounds like a dream

Here are some more pics to drool over...

steve wanted me to write a little more on the history of this guitar. So here goes -- The guitar was built by nashville luthier tom holmes and was commissioned by Billy Gibbons. There was also an explorer style guitar made out of the same cloth that says "Billy Gibbons" on the neck. The guitar was finished and presented to Albert in 1988 by Billy Gibbons in honor of Albert's 65th birthday. The last gig that Albert played with the guitar was at the Rhythm Cafe in Santa Ana, Ca. on 12-12-92 (He died nine days later)-- after the gig, Albert relinquished the guitar to his adopted cousin Lee King, who played it for a few years following Albert's death. It is now in the hands of a private collector in this area.

Last picture is a pic of some of Steve's current family members...SWEEEET!
