Guys -- I am looking for some info on Fender whammy bars and related bridges (2-point and vintage). Specifically, how many different whammy hole specs are there and is there a reference on this stuff?
Asking because my son has a Korean Squire, plywood but sounds crazy good for some reason, and we have bought I guess around 8 whammy bars for it. The whammy screw (part of the bar that screws into the bridge) was too big on one and too small (but worked) on the rest.
The reason we've bought so many, other than trying to find one that fit, is that he keeps breaking them. Are all replacement bars the same metal/strength?
Thanks for any help on those 2 Qs.

Re: Fender whammy bars
Drill and tap the bridge for a larger bar then he'll stop breaking them. SRV had that done.

You could try the Callaham tremolo block upgrade and tremolo arm: http://www.callahamguitars.com/partsstr.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You have to be careful in order to get the correct part for his guitar.

Speaking of big bars, look at Uli Roths strat on the Scorpions "In Trance" cover. HUGE bar. Francis, the bass player did it for him. I am in the process of drilling a bigger hole/thread for one of my AWESOME sounding Tokai strat bridges. I never could get the broken part of the bar out.
