Very very nice. Does it sound as much like mahogany as it looks? I've never heard of Khaya. Really pretty guitar!!

It's defenitly 'gibson like' sounding BUT this guitar sound more 'open', well even Fender like perhaps. So , in fact is has got the best of both worlds!

Henk Vlaar (the guy from Lowland Guitars) once approached me to built me a guitar. He said: 'my guitar is going to sound, play and feel better than your favourite guitar'! I was laughing my ass off and told him: go ahead. And you know what: a couple of weeks ago I actually sold a guitar I have been playing for the last ten years....just because since I got this guitar I didn't play my main one anymore! BTW; I don't even regret selling it. This guitar sounds and plays so fluid it's crazy!

So, in the end, he was right ;)

Congrats, Ruben!

Are you going to change your amplifier or effects due to the new guitar?

It's not a 'true' mahogany in the botanical sense, but the primary trade name for khaya ivorensis is African Mahogany. Not as nice to sand or plane or finish as Honduran, nor is it, on average, as stable. That being said good cuts of it can make excellent instruments. On the up side, it is cheaper, and not close to being put on CITES.

Nice looking guitar.
