The round caps in the pic?
Do any of you know what disk-shaped caps are pictured in the GPM45 head circuit board layout? If you don't know it, the pic I'm talking about is located here: http://plexireplicas.com/metropoulos-am ... m-45-head/ - it's one of the detail pics.
More mids, please...

Re: The round caps in the pic?
Those are old stock large diameter ceramic disk caps I found a few years ago. Unfortunately, I have next to none left. I'm out of 500pf completely.
I've been looking around but haven't found more of these yet. It's a shame too, because these sound really, really good in old Marshal circuits to my ears.

Re: The round caps in the pic?
George, how would you compare them to new production silver micas, or new production ceramic caps?
Original Marshalls had silver micas, but perhaps they were made differently back then? I have some NOS RS 270pF ones I am going to try in the tone stack, but need the other values as well (470 or 500 pF, 47 pF).

JTM45 RS OT, 1973 18W, JTM45/100, JTM50, JMP50 1986, JMP100 "West Coast", AC15, AC30, BF Super Reverb, Boogie Mk 1, Hiwatt CP103, DR103

Hi George,
Do you know who manufactured those caps? I have a few like the ones in the pic, they're RMC's, but if my memory serves correctly I only have 100pf's..
Thanx,
Bill in P.G.

I've found a source on eBay with a lot of RMC stuff that I've snagged, but I never see any 470/500/556pF stuff when I happen to go looking.

Look for N750 or N1500. These are negative temperature coefficient and very stable. They sound good to me.
