76' 2204

Sorry if this topic has been covered, but my situation is this. I have a 1976 100 watt 2203 Head that rules, but by 76' 50 Watt 2204 sounds thin and shrill. I'm thinking about adding 2 inputs and a 68' Super Lead Board from george, is this all i will need to convert to a Supoer Lead, and do you think this will give the amp some balls and crunch? I am sort of looking for the EVH tone from "Women in Love"

I did that to my '78 2204, like you say you just need George's kit and the two inputs (holes in the chassis for the inputs are already there, just have to drill the faceplate.) Really brought some new life and great sounds to mine.
Alternatively you could use the original board -- it's the same for MV's and SuperLead/SuperBass amps, 50's and 100's alike. Just have to add and change a few components. Make sure to pop some SoZo caps in there if your board was to late to have mustards, if you take this approach.

Did you have any trouble runnung the wires, the soldering intimidates me a tad bit.

The only wiring problem I remember is that Marshall's wire of choice doesn't bend and hold a shape well, it's like working with limp cold spaghetti. Makes it tricky to get where you want it and keep it there while you solder.
Maybe I wouldn't piss and moan about it if I'd quit using my bare fingers?
