O50JM-MM WIRING

Post by Ivabiggun » Sat Feb 13, 2010 9:53 pm

Hi, does anyone know if the wiring for the O50JM-MM is the same as for the O50M? MM didn't send the diagram with the tranny. I have the O50JM diagram.

Thanks,

Did you check the MetroAmp Wiki pages? Scott

Yes I did check that, thank you. I just want to make sure the "MM" color code is the same. I installed a self-leads model once and didn't find out it was different until I had wired it in.

Just an FYI, I was reading a post about the differences between the standard and self-leads wiring. The posters stated that there was no tonal difference between the two models. When I ordered that one I talked to Sergio, and he told me the self-leads model had a greater mid-range emphasis.

This is true as wire does make a difference in the sound (IE: gauge and quality). Try one with Mercury's leads and then try one with Telfon wire. One is not better than another but rather different. Give it a go and see where it takes you and I'm sure you will have a lot of fun.

So all else being equal, are we also to believe also that you'll hear a night and day tone difference between PCB and P2P construction as well?

That's not to say that it's due to the fact that it's self leads. This just states that the self leads model has a greater mid-range emphasis...more than likely a different wind, different inductance, etc etc...some other measurable quality affecting that and not the fact that it's self leads.
