Just bought a Music Man EVH.

I was lucky enought to be in the right place at the right time today. A friend was selling off some gear to pay some unfortunate bills and I managed to grab an Amber quilt top EVH. Shes a player but has very little in the way of wear. Just a couple of pin sized nicks in the top coat. Ive owned a couple of EBMM Axis before, but there is something about the original thats just so damn cool. Neck has some nice birdseye, and the body is ok i guess. Not as much quilt as Id like but it looks good in its own special way. Frets are excelent but just need a light going over with some 0000 steel wool to remove the tarnish thats built up over the last 5 years since its been in storage. Ive already brought home a Tokai Love Rock this week, and Im off tomorrow to pick up a 1960A Marshall 4x12 thats been on layby for a few weeks............I HAVE to stop spending. Pics soon!!!!!!!!

Ok....when I get home from work!!!!!!
I did find out from EBMM that this EVH was finished on the 19th of September 1995 and shipped to Singapore that month. Apparently one of the absolute last ones built!!!! The guy from EBMM told me that they wanted every last EVH out the door before the end of September 95.
Cool huh?

Not the best pics, but they'll do for now.
After living with it for a week, Im going to have to do some tweaking. The 9's that its fitted with just arent doing it for me, they sound weak and thin?????? Not sure the best way to describe it, but Ill fit some 10's, and shim the neck a little as the action is just not low enough. Frets could do with a polish too as they feel terrible to bend on while they are green  .

Lucky Dog. The economy must be pretty good down under. : )

I know this has probably been discussed in other threads, but what are the differences between the Music Man EVH, the Axis, the Sport, etc?

Slightly wider neck at the high E string side on the Axis and a different toggle switch location. Also the Axis has a rib contour on the rear . Same pickups, same trem and nut, same neck plate, same tuners, same woods and finish. A smart man would just buy an Axis!!!

Thats what I did. The selector switch on the Axis is in a bad place I think. Its right below the volume knob. Its so easy to hit while using the volume or bar its surprising they ever put it there.

Nice guitar dude.

I have no problems with the position on mine.

To answer question above.
The standard axis is pretty much the EVH. They rectified some problems with the EVH. Mainly the E string comin off the fretboard. So they widened it very slightly. They also had to change the trem saddles to accomodate this I think.

The Sport is an all ash guitar, no maple top. comes in hard tail, vintage trem, rosewood, birdseye maple, with or without scratchplate, single coils, humbuckers, p90s and 5 way switch or a 3 way if p90s. locking tuners.

The supersport. Basswood/maple body. Birdseye maple or rosewood, hard tail or vintage trem. 5 way switch or 3 way if p90s. Also is ash body if P90s. locking tuners, humbuckers.

modern supersports will now come with a compensated nut.

I could start to discuss the 25th, reflex or the BFR's but i shant bother lol
