My lastest build: Relic Frankenstrat

Post by chuckabooboo » Thu Feb 18, 2010 12:12 pm

New to the forum and just wanted to share some of my joy.
95% Complete; just have to replic it alittle more and add some reflectors..... :D

Heavy Northern Ash Body, Birdseye Maple Neck, Ping Floyd Rose, and EVH Frankenstrat Pickup: Sound and Plays Great through my Metro 12000 1968 amp:

Did you not fill or seal the wood?

No, I didn't seal the wood grain. I wanted to take a different approach this time and let the nice wood grain shine through. I started with staining the body with a light wood stain, then proceeding with the stripped painting scheme, then relicing and finally, finishing it off with a semigloss clear coat.

I disagree.
I think the grain is too deep and it ruins the paint job.
First pic for example, looks like a bear scratched the top of the guitar.

It just needs some hardware changes and relicing to make it look more passable.
You should see Kyle for some parts if your needing them.
Its weird ow the back look bare without the reflectors etc also

Hey, Chuckabooboo...
I think it looks cool. Its not "DEAD ON EXACT", but Im sure it cost you about 5% of one of those "DEAD ON EXACT" Fender Frankenstrats, and you got the pride of building it... not buying it. From stage distance, it'll still look cooler than shit. If your playing is even 1/2 way up to snuff, Im sure no ones gonna know the diff anyway.
Nice job IMO.

Sorry for the delay response, but I been busy with life. Thanks guys for all comments. Don't worry, I have thick leather skin, so the constructive critizism don't bother me. Yea, I really enjoyed building/painting it myself. It was great therapy for the soul... :D
