a small tip: increase the 56k resistors on f2-3 to 220k-470k (in order to reduce ghosting)

I'll get ahold of some of those. My first mod.... ;)
Band practice cancelled; more time to work on my amp. Here's where I stand...

I've finally made it to the testing phase. Nervous Excitement. I've been meticulous, but you never know...

Was reading over the instructions on testing tonight, and am confused as to when it is imperative to have a cabinet hooked up; I don't have a load box so that's not an option. Is it safe to assume I need a cab connected from the very first testing step? Or more specifically, any time I flip the power switch - with OR without tubes?

Any/all feedback greatly appreciated, as I don't want to go any further without clarification.

Best,

Stu

Thanks all. I hope to do some testing today. This was a great experience, and have every intention of doing at least one more. But first to get this one up and running...

Great job, Stu! You sure didn't waste time populating that board! :D Very nice wiring, shiny solder points n all. Testing should go well. Take your time. For peace of mind, always leave a load attached when you fire up. And don't forget to double check when testing calls for AC or DC readings.

Holy #$%, is this amp loud!!
Even on 4, it's rattling everything in my room. And I was sitting too close tweaking, and my teeth rattled- that's rock and roll my friends.

I cannont believe that it works, none the less sounds this good.

I can get so many different tones out of this amp. Everything from jazzy clean to hard rock (particularly with pedals).

Still on the wall regarding the PPIMV kit I bought. And I'm not a big fan of attenuators from the 2 that I've tried (Power Brake, Hot Plate). At least for the time being, I'm gonna leave it alone. But at some point, I'm gonna have to do something or I'm gonna go deaf.

BIG THANKS to Franz for his support and encouragement - couldn't have done it without you. To everyone that viewed, PM'd, or commented, I hope you found my experience interesting, if not a bit humerous.

BTW, I just ordered the 100W Master Volume kit. The Plexi was so much fun, I just couldn't stop there. It should be interesting building them back to back, as they're so similar, yet different.

Peace,

Stu

I will soon start this build also. You have a log of your work too ? I need all the info I can find. My build experience resume to a few pedals and some mods on RI Marshalls.
