Sylvania 6CA7s, how do you like them?

Post by aquilarosso » Fri Mar 26, 2010 12:57 am

Hi, I was lucky enough to be able to get some Sylvania 6CA7s from tubetramp. They just arrived, but I have not installed them yet. I am very keen to hear them. TT says they are "throaty with a bottom end that holds together like nothing else".
Any other opinions or info about them from people here?

I like them with a higher Z. I use mine in a komet clone with a 5k8 primary

TT is right. The bottom end holds together and then some. I have a quad of Sylvanias in a HiWatt DR103 and that head is notoriously hard on tubes. The Sylvania tubes have no problems and are built like a brick @#$! house. Fat & tight low end.

FYI - GE also made a nice & robust 6CA7.
