Well, I have no problem with electronics, loops or samples for demos and home stuff. Not everyone is a drummer. I even like drum machines more for a hypnotic type thing. And for my demos, I'll sometimes record to a drum pattern and replace it with real drums later, for the feel. My "real drums" statement wasn't meant to put anyone down. Even though I play Ok, I partially quantize keyboard parts occasionally to clean then up.
I am against the massive resampling and Pro Tooling that goes on in pro situations these days. In an effort to engineer perfection, the soul is lost. Imagine those old Deep Purple records without the grease. The corporate - product - mentality is ruining the art of music. Maybe that's why young musicians listen to older music too.
If you really want real drums in the end product, you could always do what a lot of guys do with their home stuff. When you get more serious about releasing something, just rent a studio for drum and vocal dubs.

Yep, the record companies are ruining the art. even if the mixing engineer achieves perfection, the mastering engineers are forced to squash it to death. Almost every new record is to loud, you can't even crank it with these new cd's without distortion. So what's the point.
The good thing is that there are lots of young rockers out there learning to play and record and they listen to the good old classic stuff. The next generation of rock should be pretty good if they ignore all this pop culture bullshit and just rock.

Here's the first google result I found. If anyone is interested in this type of projec, let me know. I just left a message for my good friend at Vintage King Audio. They have the Neve 1272 modules.
