You're right, the bass drums on that intro do have that "big-cam-lumpy-idle" sound going in spades!

Just got back from the AHDRA All Harley Drags in Vegas. Talk about “wump…wump”. The Top Fuel bikes are pushing 800 HP! Can you say 221mph, 6.33et almost all the way down the track on one wheel??

They had a great T shirt…”no belt, no cage, no chute…just balls” I’ll say. Saw a couple go “bang” on the line, too. Front cylinder blew out on one, then a back cylinder on another. That felt like it hit us in the chest. The rider walked away. The jugs are tied down for just such an situation but that has still got to get your attention when your chest is directly over that back cylinder!

Anyways, Alex nails that experience in that solo. He was probably doing the same thing as us. So-Cal was so awesome in those days.

Yeah, those Top Fuel Bike guys are NUTS.

Speaking of nuts, we used to go to the boat drags before they had the fighter jet safety capsules. The Fuelers had an 18 ft. pickle fork hulls with those Keith Black or Arias 3000HP engines and did 230mph quater miles on the water. Within like a 4 year span most of the class died in accidents. After that they started using the capsules. Check 'em out if you get the chance.

I remember doing some shop work with my dad and we were listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and old John Mayall. We sure felt like white trash fixing cars and grinding metal. Then my mother came in an decided to play Depeche Mode for some reason... talk about spoiling the workin' man mood.

Another sweet memory!

I remember being in woodshop in Middle School, and this crazy Army-crazed Bobby Weirs always used to play Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" album. He used to get way into it and start breaking wood with his fists and throwing shit everywhere. I should also mention he was held back like 2 years and started late, so he was a lot bigger and stronger than us. It was pretty damn scary, but sweet at the same time.

Oh man.... When all you do is listen to death/black metal you end up sounding like everyone else. In all honesty I barely listen to that form of music for regular listening pleasure. I just like playing it because it is a challenge to play. Especially through a Super Lead, which really has none of that grindy distortion that is so prevalent in that style of music.

Here are some other bands/cd's that make a drive fun.
