I have a Peavey Windsor that tone wise is not cutting it.
Doesn't sound super horrible but I know it can sound way better.
The windsor
This is the peavy windsor, quite the popular amp (actually only popular because it was blown out last year at 200$ for the head and 400$ for the halve stack). I have seen crazy things done with these amp. Recently in the amps for sale section of this same forum i saw S.l.O (Which I'm assuming is more hot rod bassed) modded windsor and a VHT deliverance modded windsor. They are a good mod platform.
Here's the schematic in pdf format

I'll add a jpeg version of it later
The mods/ conversions
The original Idea I had for this amp was to add another pre amp tube to this amp. This would allow me to make the Gain channel 4 gainstages. If i share the v1 stage between channels this would give me a fender "style" clean channel.
I can also convert the amp into one of the following:
(In order of ease of conversion) (Also all channels will be foot switchable and amps with "modes" ect. will also be foot switchable.)
1.Splawn quickrod or nitro od channel (No added tubes)
2.jcm 800 (Or a modded 800 with no added tubes)
3.Bogner shiva (extra tube added for the clean channel).
5.Tim caswell #39 (Basically a 800 with an added triode, cool thing about this amp is that it lets you pick from 2/3/4 gain stages)
6. Soldano hotrod (Added tube with a lot of component changes)
7.Bogner ecstasy ( Would have to add a tube then add the excursion ect.)
I
The one mod that I will do almost for sure is to change the cathodyne phase inverter into a ltp phase inverter.
The problem
Now the problem here is that aside from the s.l.o, the jcm 800 and the hot rod I haven't played any of the other amps in real life. I've listened to clips but i know that clips(the majority of the time don't represent how these amps sound in real life).
So if you own one of these amps sell me on it! What do you/don't you like about the amp? Hell even share a clip or two if you have any.
I need this amp to do everything from "classic rock" to thrash metal.
I would like to use as much of the stock amp as possible but I'm also willing to completely change it.

Re: Peavey windsor conversion/mod
do your own thing
I'd rewire the 4th stage as a cathode follower first, check how it sounds and then I'd start the mod from that point
