All was good about 2 weeks ago. I finished building the kit and instantly loved it!
Was a tad loud so installed the larmar. That all worked good. Then two days later the HT Fuse blew.
Here's the story:
First: I installed a new HT fuse, and when i flicked standby to on it blew again, audible hum coming from a transformer as well. I check everything AND REALISED I FORGOT TO PUT A DUMMY LOAD ON (power tubes were in, no guitar was in, everything to ZERO [EXCEPT LARMAR])
Next: Cursed for a minute, Drained the caps, walked away for a glass of water, installed a new HT Fuse, and when i flicked the amp on (standby), the 2A fuse blew. I FORGOT TO REMOVE THE TEST LEAD FROM DRAINING THE FILTER CAPS.
Next: Cursed for five minutes, reset the house safety switch, Drained the caps, installed a new power fuse, AND removed the output tubes (i hear the HT fuse can go if tubes go bad)...... and when i turned it on........ all good, tested heater voltages, rectifier tubes and what not, then held my breath turned the standby switch to ON, bang all fuses gone, humming transformer again.
I cannot believe it, ahh, took my time, all of last month, making sure not to rush anything, and now colossal failure. What is the likely cause? What has gone wrong!?
