I just got my bias right on my old fat bottles late last night. I can only drop the supply voltage down to 105 VAC due to heater voltage dropping below 2.8 VAC if I go any lower with this PT.
largely stock Metro 68 12xxx kit with DF suggested mods, except:
I had to bump my bias resistor from 27k to 33k to get my set of Sylvanias hot
I removed the fat cap on V2. we'll see how it sounds and I may add it back.
stock diodes (no FREDs)
Its got 1.1ks on V1 instead of 820s to account for the drift that they supposedly had
Drake 2" from Marst**

I had to get a little taste of what it sounded like (still above bedroom level even slaved) and hairy would be best single word to describe it. Hopefully I can get more time on it tonight.

I owe the thread a clip. i'm working on my slave setup so what is posted will not be totally representitive due to that setup.

It's just a standard 3H 100ma choke; the only difference is the box frame and end bells...purely aesthetic.

BTW, here is one of the new OT's from Classic Tone. 2.2K. Wasn't the the one in Ed's around 2.5K? I believe George's Dagnall was 1.7K. They don't have a 50 watt version yet but have "coming soon" on the Classic Tone site.

I bought that OT. Unfortunately the primary impedance isn't the whole story. That's a hi-def OT with an extended bandwidth; the Drake rolls off both lows and highs a lot more than that OT would. I think that one would be a bit more harsh sounding in a 1200 series amp. I've got an SLO-100 build waiting for me when I get home, so I think I can give it a happy home though.

Yeah, I dont have the 2"Drake I got from Chris up and running yet. I find George's Dagnall clone a great OT anyways. Has a great open sound for clarity. Interesting to hear that tranny(Classic Tone) in a 12000 though.

Would you get to work? I am anxious to hear the differenct between George's, Chris's and the Classic Tone. I just measured my Ceriatone OT and it is 2". Not sure what type it is though, no markings. It's black. 8)

Is it noticeably better than his regular 2"??.... That tranny is my favorite... I might have to order one and try it.

I'm hoping that everyone gets GAS at the same time and we can get Chris to build this thing...he's got the real deal right there in his shop, and he builds the best Marshall Iron period.
