Thanks
what value of gain pot?, and what value is the 4th stage cathode bypass if there is one. this will confirm it for me whether you got the true viscious rumors mod, or the DCP-1 preamp scheme instead.

Actually wait a second Art, if they did indeed use the DCP-1, than maybe thats the scheme you want, afterall. although if it is the one M.C. gave you, I think it's a little screwy in some places.

Not realy relevant to the schematic, but there appears to be a Langner modded Park 50 on ebay as we speak.

Here is the Vicious Rumors Mod, also known as the Hyper Mod to the DCP-1 Preamps. Todd didn't do many of these.

I know this is an old topic, but rumor has it that a solder tech from home brew electronics has 2 of the langner mods. I think one is a 5 gain stage and one is a 6, but i cannot find the thread??? I hope this will point you in the correct direction. BTW 1st post here!!!!

at least we have the schemo for the langner 4 stager here ;

http://www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic ... 3&t=104175" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

even if it has errors in it , if you change the 3 first cathode bypass caps to 1uf you're supposed to be good to go ...

but i'll work my way to the 5 stager don't worry , or close , it's just that i have loads of other things to do a this time in the year ... anyway i went to the homebrew site and there's no forum at all ??? where are you supposed to contact the solder guy ??

I recently restored a Langner modded '72 Marshall Super Lead. A few other amp techs had been in it over the years and added/changed stuff—like adding a noise gate, tube-driven loop, diode clipping, etc. Owner asked me to restore it back to the original Langner circuit, which I did. It's a pretty simple circuit with nothing too surprising going on. The first few gain stages just copy/paste each other with unsurprising cathode value choices. But for the most part, it's just a stock Marshall circuit with an additional tube, yielding 5 stages. NFB is stock Marshall, PI is stock Marshall, tone stack is stock Marshall. Pre-tone stack MV.

Langner didn't really mess with the tone of the donor amp. This particular amp came stock as a Super Bass but was later modified to Lead spec before Langner worked on it. But it still had the SB stack with 56K slope and 270pF treble cap. Owner preferred more mids, so I changed 'em out to 47K/470pF. I also kept the depth/thump circuit added by someone else at owner's request, but tweaked it a bit to jive more with the inherent sound of the amp.

Amp sounds really good. A ton of gain and lots of grind. More gain than I could probably use. And I think 4 stages is actually plenty and can still get a similar sound, but with a lower noise floor.

At the end of the day, there's nothing mystical going on in this one. Very similar to the DCP-1 schematic, just in modded amp form. If you grab any random 1959 Super Lead, add another tube, and rewire the rest to cascade each stage, you're done by the time you get to the tone stack. Then it's just a matter of choosing how you want each gain stage voiced.

Sounds like you brought it back to life. 4 Stages? Can you share the schem or layout?

Five stages. Just Google search the DCP-1 schematic. His Marshall mods were basically that.
