The 20w paper voice coil Scumback is very different than a 65w Creamback. The standard M75 65w Scumback would be comparable.

Yes I get it.

You would probably put the G12M Heritage vs the pvc Scumback and the G12M creamback 65 against the stock M75 Scumback rated for 65w as suggest above.

Only way to find out would be a back to back with brand new ones of each out of the box and with fully broken in versions, but I guess Jim might have done that already.

For me in the UK I can still find prerola speakers in good order (and of course the odd duff one  ) for not that much money and importing bulky stuff from the US like speakers is 'like sending coals to Newcastle' however if you are in the US the Southbay products make much more sense.

the thing obviously is if you're in europe or anywhere near , sure the scumback speakers are kinda out of reach when you cannot shell out the dough , but now for people living the the usa , the choice is a little less obvious , mainly cuz these new celestion speaker lines are built in china , hence still really easy to reach for a reasonnable price in usa ..... now when you see the creamback topology with the 8 holes and all the bells and whistles , i mean wow , the only thing i cannot avoid to think is " oh boy .... super agressive marketing there " .... almost like the marshall fridge  , like uk companies are rolling out all muscles , ready to shaft the whole goddamned world with pride ....  ... like you wanna say to them .... come on take a sip of old ale , start a fire in the chimney , feng chui your house it's all cool ya know  ... i really don't understand this mentality , most sucesses in industry ( besides lady gaga  ) is basically a guy making his own shit in his corner , then the word spread he came up with something pretty big , and finally everyone sell their mothers to get it .... rarity man , mustard caps prices on ebay taught everyone that... quality imposes itself no need for banners lazer projected on the surface of the moon ya know  ... well true they haven't made the frame black at least :) .....
man !

ps ; now .... i agree IF the eight holes were made a the direct request of a cab maker under an agreement with celestion for 10000s of them , why not ... but still ... smells cheesy a bit , not to say blatant ... and i'm french , so i pretty much know what i'm talking about when it comes to cheese
apart from that a 65w greenback is a good idea , people craved this from day one and they even have had the time to lauch 4 or 5 barely sellable models before this pivotal one  , so i'm not criticizing a 65w greeny , it's cool , i'm just thinking they should fire the guy behind the market strategy , cruel lack of subtlety ... i mean , big time  ...is he even guitarist ? ... i bet there's an insider joke or something like saying ; " hey jim you made your bucks on cloning us , okay we clone you know ... you'll feel how it hurts " doublewink poured over with a substancial dose of smile ....  damn ! :peace:

All right, Frenchie, we'll trust your advice on cheese. ;)

Seems to me the whole Heritage range is a bit Follow the Leader.

But then, any true believer from Ipswich will tell you Mr. Seavall is the anti-Celestion. :worthy:
