crazy 4x12 speaker combo?

hey guys, im getting a 4x12 and my speakers are coming from wgs. i really like the greenback sound so i'm basing my cabinet off of that but i head some ideas.....(btw i'm running a 100 watt super bass cranked up, usually with an attenuator)
2 invaders (greenback clone at 50 watts)
with two reaper hp's (g12h30 clones 50 watts) ive heard this speaker fills int he sound in the lows and highs.

or..... 2 invaders with one reaper hp and one vet 30 (vintage 30). i like this idea because i know that live the audience will probably only hear the greenback because 1 speaker will be mic'ed. in the studio, having the invaders, the reaper hp, and the vet 30 will give me alot of options for sounds when recording. but ultimately, will that strange combination sound good when im just playing and listening to the cab itself?

ps i was also thinking of throwing an et 65 in there instead of the vet 30 but it seems like the et 65 is supposed to be a greenback ish sound which ill already have. the vintage 30 would just add some color.

also since the vet 30 is a 60 watt speaker will it be louder or softer than the others which are at 50 watts?

Wattage means nothing to hardness, softness or perceived volume. What is important is the sensitivity level or efficiency of the speaker. The highest levels here will be the loudest perceived speaker.

What is important to note, that when micing any of those speakers in a shared enclosure, they will not sound like themselves mic'd up, but a combination of all of them with just more colour of whatever speaker you are micing into the mix. The waves behind the speakers have a huge effect on the cone response above certain volume levels.

You should try this I'll be surprised if after a while you don't come to the same conclusion I did. I had 12 speakers only a couple of them the same. I loaded up two 4x12s with assorted speakers and found they sounded the same. The cabs had at most one black back in each. What happens is all the character each speaker has by itself is lost when mixed with speakers of different sounds. The cabs turned out pretty boring. I changed them around a few more times and finally realized I preferred cab of one flavor. All greenbacks in one cab, all G12H-30s in another, 55hz in another and so forth.

Can't agree more
Just while we're on WGS, I have a quad of ET65s, they're ok but you need to up the treble n pres on them IMO, I also have a quad of the 10'' veterans, $41 each n that cab is a killer, if you have a 4x10 cab I highly recommend the 10'' vets, of course, allow for breakin though.

Clukeglue, just a thought ... if you haven't already ordered from WGS you might consider Weber Legacys. They're currently on sale for $90, so $44 more on a quad compared to WGS. Well worth it IMHO. I recently bought a pair and build quality and tone is absolutely top shelf. Very easy to spec the G12M/G12H blend you're shooting for. 65 watt VCs will handle the power.

thanks for the suggestion! the company i'm ordering the cab from (sour mash) has a relationship with was so they can build the cab for me, load it and wire it so thats why i'm pretty set on wgs.

As Alex mentioned, if you mix things up too much it just washes out with little character. I'd leave out the Vet 30 and stick with the Invader/Reaper combo which is has proven rather popular. (If you must mix them up, use the Retro rather than the Vet - it has more personality.)
